Professor T Season 4 has premiered in the US, bringing back Professor Jasper Tempest, the genius criminologist who continues to work on some intriguing cases while also dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Meanwhile, as always, he has his overbearing mother to worry about. The new season picks up six months after the events of the previous installment’s finale, where Lisa Donckers met with a tragic fate.

Professor T Season 4 release schedule

Professor T Season 4 will have six episodes, just like the previous installments of the show. The first episode aired on PBS Masterpiece on August 24, 2025. The series will now follow a weekly schedule, airing one new episode every Sunday until the finale on September 28, 2025. All episodes will be released at 8 PM ET/PT.

What to expect from Professor T Season 4?

The new season revolves around the aftermath of the tragic death of Detective Inspector Lisa Donckers. While Jasper and others are still reeling with the loss, they have more criminal cases to worry about.

The official logline for the season reads:

“The team must overcome their grief to tackle a dangerous crime wave. This time, the gloves are well and truly off for Professor T in his lectures, and a new musical pursuit, romance is very much alive for his mother Adelaide Tempest, and the lines between professional and personal become blurred for therapist Helena Goldberg. Meanwhile, DI Maiya Goswami takes charge of the police force with series favorite DS Dan Winters fiercely at her side.”

Ben Miller reprises his role as Professor Jasper Tempest in the new season. Talking about returning to the show, the actor said in an official statement:

“There’s nothing out there quite like ‘Professor T,’ with its unique mix of complex crimes and captivating characters, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Cambridge; the central enigma being the Professor himself… a mystery I hope to investigate for many seasons to come.!”

Other returning cast members include Barney White as DS Dan Winters, Sarah Woodward as Ingrid Snares, Sunetra Sarker as DCI Maiya Goswami, Frances de la Tour as Adelaide Tempest, and Juliet Stevenson as Dr Helena Goldberg.

Rhian Blundell has joined the cast as DC Chloe Highsmith, and Zoë Wanamaker has joined the new season as Zelda Radclyffe. Emma Naomi is making a guest appearance in the fourth season as Lisa Donckers after her character’s death.
