Ransom Canyon Season 2 received major updates this week, including the addition of a new actor to the cast. Heidi Engerman will play Yancy Grey's secret wife. For those who don't know, the season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger as we got a shot of a woman from the back of her head gate-crashing Ynacy and Ellie's wedding, claiming to be the rodeo's wife.Engerman did not play the unnamed character in the Ransom Canyon Season 1 finale; that would be Jane by Design's Erica Dasher. Showrunner April Blair confirmed this in an April 2025 interview:“A fun tidbit nobody knows, is that the girl who played the back of her head was actually the star of my very first show, Jane by Design that was on ABC family at the time. That was Erica Dasher, and she was just there to visit and I said, ‘Will you, will you be the back of his wife’s head?' And she’s like, ‘I will if you let me audition for her'. So we don’t know [who will play her] yet. Obviously it’ll be a brunette, but it’s a fun, now that we’re in the room on season two, it’s a very fun character that’s shaping up and a very juicy backstory.”Who is Heidi Engerman playing in Ransom Canyon Season 2? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostAs of now, we don't have the name for Engerman's Ransom Canyon Season 2 character. We just know that she is playing the woman claiming to be his wife. Now, Ransom Canyon Season 2 will shine a light on this past.April Blair teased the character's role in Ransom Canyon Season 2 in the recent Deadline interview while confirming Heidi Engerman's involvement:“She comes to town and causes a whole lot of trouble, a lot of fun trouble. It’s gonna be a challenge for me. There’s a lot of surprises for Yancy this season that are going to be super fun and a lot of stakes to his wife showing up. Can he get rid of her? Does he want to get rid of her? Why does he need to get rid of her? And it picks at his history a little too. We always alluded to Yancy having this grifter criminal past, and now the the context of that starts to come into focus with the wife’s arrival.”Blair also teased multiple seasons: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostBlair also had some interesting teases for the fans of the Netflix series in the same Deadline interview. She joined the series in 2023, and the showrunner revealed that she knew that the world of Ransom Canyon is expansive enough to continue for multiple seasons:“I instantly knew it was a great world to build a show around. It felt timely and timeless and big and romantic like all the good stuff that you want when you’re looking at books. [It] had the possibility to expand and have legs to continue for multiple seasons. You could see how that world could just keep growing. [I] could see seasons and seasons.”We will hear more about Ransom Canyon Season 2 as the team hopes to wrap up production by early 2026.
