Prime Video's Reacher Season 1 Episode 4, titled "In a Tree," begins on a tense note. With Jack Reacher still investigating the rising corruption in Margrave, Georgia, and that of his brother Joe's death, things turn more complicated than ever.

Every clue he uncovers brings another threat. Episode 4 makes it clear that he cannot outrun the violence that follows. His bond with Chief Detective Finlay and Rosce grows sharper, yet trust remains fragile.

The episode begins with Reacher trying to squeeze the people he killed in the trunk along with Spivey's body. He then takes their cellphones and goes through their belongings for any clues. Finlay calls him and asks about Spivey, but Reacher doesn't spill anything about him. He also informs that Hubble had not been working at the bank for over a year.

Here's what happened in Reacher Season 1 Episode 4.

Finlay brings news about Joe's rental car, which leads them to an almost burned-out vehicle in the woods. With a simple trick from his military days (ketchup and salt), Reacher helps uncover the VIN. He then tells that the South Americans killed Spivey before he reached.

Roscoe joins them, and the three begin piecing together a pattern that links Spivey, the South Americans, and the suspicious flow of trucks through the town. The burned car shows clear signs of arson. Finlay senses a cover-up, and Reacher realizes that someone wanted the vehicle erased. It pushes them toward another uncomfortable truth. The men who came after Reacher were connected to a much larger operation.

Roscoe watches Reacher closely and confronts him about his past in Iraq. She forces him to explain a moment he rarely shares. His story reveals a painful memory of children in danger, giving the audience a clearer sense of why Reacher hates cruelty. It also draws Roscoe closer to him emotionally, shifting their partnership into personal territory.

The investigation leads Reacher and Roscoe to Jobling's home while pretending to be cops. There, they learn about Pete and his wife Judy, and when they meet Judy, they unravel a bunch of secrets from the garage involving their hidden money, stolen goods, and the growing influence of the Kliner family. Judy Miller's fear confirms what the audience already senses. Margrave is built on secrets, and those secrets are guarded with violence. Reacher connects the dots quickly. The trucking routes, the air conditioners, and the missing cash all tie back to a counterfeiting network.

After a long day marked by danger and grief, Roscoe tries to break through Reacher's shell. The moment is soft but brief, and the next morning they go back to work. Until now, Reacher has kept emotions far from his mission, but Roscoe becomes the first person to shake that rule.

Finlay keeps digging as well, but he faces pressure from Mayor Teale, who wants him off the Kliner trail. That tension pushes Finlay to trust Reacher more, even though his own career hangs in the balance as he tries to move information without drawing attention. Every character feels the squeeze as Margrave reveals more corruption.

What happened to Molly Beth?

At the end of the episode, Reacher and Roscoe discover that Joe used a false name at the motel. They get the information about the burnt car using its VIN. When they arrive, they miss the men carrying Joe's belongings by minutes, but in Joe's garment bag, they find a note mentioning the Kliner file, Jobling's Garage, and Operation E. A sudden attack forces them into a deadly chase. Reacher kills one attacker while Roscoe saves him from another, proving she is far from helpless.

Meanwhile, they think it might have been Stevenson who alerted the South Americans about the motel and Joe's belongings. When they go through Joe's note, they find that it says, 'E Unum Pluribus." They try to dissect the code and find out more clues. Jack still feels that the animal feed isn't adding up. He then contacts the trusted PI Neagley.

By the final moments of Reacher Season 1 Episode 4, the tone shifts. When Molly Beth arrives in the town with Joe's files, she vanishes before Reacher can get to her. He follows a trail into the dark and finds her bleeding on the train tracks. For the first time in the season, Reacher loses someone who trusted Joe and believed in him.

Reacher Season 1 Episode 4 ends with grief, anger, and a renewed sense of purpose. The case became personal. Reacher carries the weight of another death, and Margrave feels more dangerous than ever.
