Boone encourages the use of power functions to enhance magic
Lego Masters Jr. Brickmaster Boone Langston emphasized that movement and luminosity are key to making Hogwarts come to life, not just static constructions. Magic jumps off the structure thanks to power functions, which give projects vitality.
“Movement and lights are awesome ways to bring that magic to life. So use power functions in impactful ways and help us get lost in the magical world of Harry Potter.”
Teams responded by using animated decorations such as shifting portraits and fluttering books, as well as moving staircases and glowing fires. This enhanced each build's immersive storytelling and visual appeal, bringing viewers further into Episode 3's magical LEGO universe.
Episode recap: Uncommon common rooms challenge
The Lego Masters Jr. teams were given the assignment to construct "uncommon common rooms" for one of the four Hogwarts houses in this episode. With a celebrity mentor assigned, each team had six hours to finish their constructions.
Under the guidance of Alison Sweeney, Ajay, Zak, and Alison designed a common room with ghosts and a trembling staircase that incorporated aspects from the Harry Potter books. In order to convey the house's emphasis on creativity and knowledge, Will, Crosby, and Andy, together with their tutor Andy Richter, created a common area with flying books and pixies.
Under the direction of Jordin Sparks, contestants constructed a common area that reflected the crafty character of the home by including a Quidditch match and snake-themed accents.
Ravi Patel's team constructed a common room with a moving badger statue and a fireplace leading to a snack room, showcasing the house's dedication and loyalty.
The challenge was won by Ajay, Zak, and Alison, who were ranked first, followed by Will, Crosby, and Andy. Vincent, Hudson, and Ravi were eliminated.
