Hulu's hit legal drama Reasonable Doubt Season 3 premiered on September 18, 2025, with two episodes. At the center of the series is Jax Stewart (Emayarzt Corinealdi), a criminal defense lawyer from L.A. The premiere episodes of Reasonable Doubt Season 3 open with Toni (Lewis' ex) suing Jax and Lewis for her baby's death. After months of negotiation, Toni finally agrees to sign the settlement contract only after Lewis spends a night with her. Their conversation is heartfelt as Toni shares her grief and Lewis consoles her.

Meanwhile, Jax works on a celebrity profile case. Jax's client is Ozzie Edwards, a former child artist and upcoming star. He's arrested for the murder of Wendy, his girlfriend and a hair stylist. Turns out, Ozzie has secrets of his own, and he keeps several things from Jax, along with meeting a suspicious man called Alex.

Elsewhere, Jax's personal life is also a mess. The premiere ends with her estranged father, Eddie's return. Can Jax balance her personal turmoil and professional challenges? Did Ozzie really kill Wendy? If not, can Jax prove her client innocent? Here's what happens in Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 3.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 3 recap: The sudden return of Jax's estranged father teases trouble

The sudden return of Jax's biological father, Eddie, in the premiere leaves both the viewers and Jax in shock. Episode 3 opens with Jax reluctantly letting Eddie inside their house. While Eddie awkwardly hugs Jax, she questions him about his return, especially after abandoning his family for eight long years. Eddie asks for her forgiveness and to talk over a meal or even a coffee. However, Jax asks him to leave, and Lewis opens the door for him. Jax angrily shuts it down. Jax's reaction to Eddie's sudden return is quite understandable.

During a dine-out with Jax and Lewis, Mama Lu invites Jax's father, Eddie. Mama Lu explains why she thinks the father and daughter should sort out their differences. However, Jax counters Eddie with several points and tells him clearly that she doesn't need him in her life. They do meet in person separately over dinner, as Jax refuses to let her guard down and confronts him confidently. Jax feels that her father is hiding something that might land them both in trouble. She grows a strange feeling that his reappearance isn't a coincidence or a change of heart; there's an ulterior motive behind it.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 3: Naima ends up in prison, and Bill keeps an eye on Jax

Meanwhile, Naima Stewart, Jax's daughter, ends up in custody after she is caught shoplifting from a luxury brand store. After being bullied by her classmates for the Lewis-Toni case, she finds new friends, Simone and Brenda, and they are not good company. The girls dare Naima to shoplift a designer bag from a store, and she ends up in the police station. Jax rushes to the station and Lewis schools her as she narrates what happened.

Later, when Lewis and Naima spend some time together, Naima tells him why she was hanging out with new friends. She reveals that Hattie (Toni's daughter) told her that they are sisters and Lewis was responsible for Toni's baby's death. When Lewis grasps the situation, he worries and discusses with Jax to reveal the truth to the children about Toni.

Meanwhile, Vince and Stephen ask Bill to keep a close eye on Jax and look out for any flaws in the Ozzie murder case to sabotage her position in the firm. Bill agrees to do so, but it's hard to believe that he would report her. However, with pressures mounting on him on both sides (professional and personal lives), he might choose to betray Jax.

Reasonable Doubts Season 3 Episode 3 recap: Wendy's murder case gets complicated

Coming back to Wendy's murder case, Jax tries her best to get bail for her client, Ozzie Edwards, for five million dollars. But things turn into a mess when Ozzie gets chased by paps, and he angrily snaps at a cameraman. He's then put on house arrest for attacking the paps, but that doesn't help as well as he escapes to the community centre. Ozzie seems unhinged about the case as he keeps posting bare-bodied pictures on social media. Jax asks Daniel Kim, her assistant, to keep an eye on Ozzie.

Things take a wild turn when Ozzie overdoses on drugs and Daniel informs Jax. Later, Kristen reveals that Ozzie has been a drug addict, but he was sober for two years. He might have succumbed due to the constant pressure. Kristen reveals that she needs to get the drugs from her source to make him feel better. When Daniel questions her about why they did not seek medical help? Kristen reveals that he was his drug supplier and even helped him out of addiction.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 3 recap: Ozzie Edward's troubled past and Alex's secret

When Ozzie meets Dr. Owens in Reasonable Doubt Season 3, he reveals details about his traumatic childhood and shares his drug addiction problems. Turns out he had been s*xually abused when he was 13 years old by a 30-something woman. Owens helps him and makes him realize that he was manipulated into thinking that it was consensual. Ozzie is a s*xual abuse survivor. As Ozzie leaves, she thanks Dr. Owens and Jax.

In the closing moments of Reasonable Doubt Season 3, we see Jax sharing with Daniel over the phone a theory. As per her theory, Ozzie was home but definitely was not alone the night of Wendy's murder, since he did drugs for the first time after staying sober for two long years. So they deduce there must be someone else trying to frame Ozzie. Meanwhile, Ozzie receives a call from Alex, the suspicious man, and he asks him to be his alibi, but he straight up refuses.
