In a vulnerable moment during the 1000-Lb. Sisters May 6, 2025 episode, 1000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton tearfully confessed her deepest fears about potentially losing custody of her children following her September 2024 arrest.

During a cafe conversation with her sister Tammy, Amy broke down while discussing the legal troubles that followed a bizarre incident involving a camel bite.

"I've just been taking care of the kids and trying to stay out of trouble. The fact that I could have lost my kids... I think I've done pretty good. This is the first time it broke down since like... Those two are the most... They're the reason why I'm alive," she confessed, unable to hold back tears.

The emotional scene came during the fourth episode of Season 7, titled "The Big Camel in the Room," which addressed the reality star's arrest for possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI substances while with her sons, Gage (4) and Glenn (2).

What was the camel incident on 1000-Lb. Sisters and its legal repercussions for Amy Slaton?

What began as a family outing to Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo quickly spiraled into legal troubles for Amy and her boyfriend, Brian Lovvorn. After Amy was bitten by a camel at the park, responding deputies detected suspicious odors coming from her vehicle.

Upon searching the car, where her young sons were waiting, authorities discovered marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms. Despite having a medical marijuana card, Amy learned the hard way about interstate differences in drug laws.

"I didn't know it didn't transfer to states… my medical card didn't cover my a**," she explained during a confessional segment on the show.

Following the discovery, both Amy and Brian were arrested on charges of illegal possession and child endangerment. They spent one night in custody before being released on bond.

Amy vividly described her brief jail experience on 1000-Lb.Sisters:

"Jail was very cold and lonely… There was a little mattress on the floor. That's all I got."

By December 2024, she was found guilty of simple possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI substances. The episode showed Amy dealing with the aftermath while awaiting her final court date.

"What happens now is just keeping my mind busy till my court date, which is in a few weeks," she told viewers.

Adding insult to injury, the camel bite itself developed into a serious infection. Amy revealed that the wound began draining green fluid, requiring emergency medical attention.

The unusual nature of the injury presented challenges for healthcare providers.

"They had to get on Wikipedia themselves… they kind of find out there's a special antibiotic for camels," Amy explained, highlighting the bizarre circumstances surrounding her ordeal.

What were the implications for Amy’s family?

This episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters also touched on how Amy's legal troubles affected her relationship with her sisters. During their cafe conversation, Amy expressed feeling overwhelmed by family intervention, describing herself as "independent" following the arrest.

For 1000-Lb. Sisters viewers of the weight-loss journey show, the episode marked a significant departure from the usual health-focused content, offering a glimpse into the personal struggles that can accompany public scrutiny.

As Amy awaits resolution to her legal situation, her emotional confession underscores the stakes involved, not just potential punishment, but the possibility of separation from the children she credits with giving her life purpose.
