Reasonable Doubt Season 3 ending explained: A tragic death motivates Jax to unmask Wendy's real killer

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 concluded with an intense finale titled "On to the Next One" on Hulu on November 13. The legal drama series is Onyx Collective's first scripted television series, which has also been renewed for another season on Hulu.

Defence lawyer Jax Stewart was representing client Ozzie Edwards, who was charged with the murder of his girlfriend Wendy. Since Ozzie suffered from dr*g addiction, the prosecutor presented a solid case against him. They argued that Ozzie's addiction overcame him and he shot his girlfriend in cold blood and then left her body in the cabin. While the odds were stacked against Ozzie, Jax managed to turn the case in her client's favor and prove how Ozzie's talent manager, Monica, had abused him since the age of 13. This abuse forced Ozzie to turn to dr*gs, leaving him with a lifetime of trauma.

The Reasonable Doubt Season 3 finale finally revealed the result of Ozzie's murder trial and Jax unmasked Wendy's real killer. However, her win was bittersweet as a tragic event changed Ozzie's fate forever.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 ending: Explaining Ozzie's tragic fate

The ball was in Jax's court in the penultimate episode of Reasonable Doubt Season 3 and she presented a solid closing argument in court. After testimonies from Monica, Kristin, Rosie, Sal and forensic experts, Jax revealed how Ozzie was abused from a young age. His talent manager, Monica, was exposed in court and Jax managed to reveal how his abuse led to his addiction. Since Ozzie was in no way capable of shooting Wendy in his dr*g-fueled hysteria, he was found not guilty in court. Jax finally won the case and the court acquitted Ozzie of all charges.

However, this was not the end for the character in Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 10. While Ozzie had plans to celebrate his freedom, Jax had arranged for her client to go into a rehab facility. Since Jax considered Ozzie her child, she wanted him to get proper help. However, Ozzie was scared to return to rehab and turned to dr*gs at the final moment. Before the officials could have taken Ozzie to the rehab, he overdosed and died on the spot.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 ending: Was Wendy's real killer revealed?

Ozzie's tragic death was hard for Jax and she vowed to expose Wendy's real killer in the Reasonable Doubt Season 3 finale. While Kristin confessed to Wendy's murder, Jax understood that she was covering up for somebody. In a shocking turn of events, it was revealed that Sal, Ozzie's father, was Wendy's real killer. Since Sal did not want his son to date Wendy, he created a fake video, which led to the couple's big fight. When Wendy arrived at Edwards' house to confront Sal, he hit her so hard that she banged her head on a table and started bleeding heavily.

While Wendy was still alive, Sal asked Kristin to shift Wendy's unconscious body to their cabin, which is where he shot her to death. Kristin hesitated to help her father clean the mess and also felt guilty for her actions. In Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 10, Jax motivated Kristin to testify against her father and she managed to get Sal's confession by wearing a secret wire in front of him. This was enough to press charges against Sal and it was suggested that he would be put behind bars.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 ended on a shocking cliffhanger

Her bittersweet win with Ozzie's case was enough for Jax to think of a new direction in her career and life. After Chelsea revealed that Eddie was back in her life just to ask for some money, Jax realized that she needed to take some time off from her sister and father. Elsewhere, Stephen and Vince's office politics forced her to quit the firm and open her own law firm.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 concluded with Jax opening her own new law firm, with Lewis and Daniel supporting her in this decision. While the trio was celebrating this win, Monica entered and pointed a gun at Jax and her friends. Earlier in the finale, Monica was glaring at Jax, who had exposed her in court as a child abuser. While Monica had abused Ozzie for many years, she believed that she truly loved him. She was boycotted from society and not even allowed to attend Ozzie's funeral. It looks like Monica will mend her toxic ways but she blamed Jax for the turn of events.

The Reasonable Doubt Season 3 finale ended with Monica firing away at Jax and Lewis, with their fates hanging in the balance. Her anger was visible and Jax was left to handle the consequences of her decision. Since Reasonable Doubt is renewed for Season 4, we will learn about Jax and Lewis' fate in the upcoming season.
