Resident Alien cancelled: Syfy/USA Network confirms Season 4 will be its last

Syfy/USA Network's Resident Alien has been canceled, and the show will conclude after its fourth season.

The science fiction mystery comedy series is based on the Dark Horse comics series, which premiered its fourth (and final) season on June 6, 2025. The cancellation news comes days before the Season 4 finale, which will premiere on August 8, 2025.

Confirming the news about Resident Alien's cancellation, showrunner Chris Sheridan toldTV Insider,

“I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season. Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending.''

The series follows the titular extraterrestrial (alien) who is sent to Earth to wipe out humanity. However, when he crash-lands in the fictional town of Colorado, he starts to develop compassion and kindness. After he kills the vacationing physician Harry Vanderspeigle and assumes his identity as a disguise, he faces a moral dilemma.

As the show progresses, Harry starts to show empathy with humanity and even makes friends in Colorado. He eventually decides to save the human race from other extraterrestrial threats.

Syfy cancels Resident Alien after Season 4

Harry's time in Patience, Colorado, is coming to an end as Syfy has cancelled Resident Alien after Season 4. The Season 4 finale, premiering on August 8, 2025, will mark the end of Harry's journey.

While the news is surely disappointing for the show's fans, Sheridan and his team were prepared, and the series finale will certainly conclude the show and address all the existing storylines:

“I’m so proud of how good Season 4 is and especially proud that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that is probably my favorite episode of the series.'' Sheridan added

Season 4 followed an exciting storyline, where Harry's moral dilemma about threatening his race and identity increased with each episode. Things got even more challenging for him when a Mantid stole his identity and posed a big threat to humanity.

Harry also realized that the Greys were able to steal his identity when he was captured on their spaceship. The Resident Alien Season 4 finale will unravel many mysteries about the Greys and Harry.

The series stars Alan Tudyk as the titular alien who is sent to Earth to wipe out humanity. The ensemble cast of the science fiction show includes Sara Tomko, Alice Wetterlund, Elizabeth Bowen, Meredith Garrettson, Judah Prehn, Corey Reynolds, and Levi Fiehler.
