Resident Alien star and creator comment on the show's future after the Season 5 cancellation

In a recent conversation with TVInsider during the San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and creators of Resident Alien talked about the show's cancellation for another season.
All of the cast had heartwarming words for the show and were beyond grateful for it and for the fans who've loved the show for so long. Alice Wetturlund, who plays D'arcy Bloom on Resident Alien, talked about her love for the show:
"We want [fans] to know we love them and that they can do anything that they put their minds to except make a fifth season."
Alan Tudyk, who plays Harry Vanderspeigle, went on to make a comment that incited some rumors about the possibility of a renewal for the show, despite the cancellation. He said that in a different era of entertainment rule, the popularity that the show has would mean a definite renewal for another season.
However, at this time, the entertainment industry has completely changed, and the metrics behind this decision have changed as well. So, even though the show will now be cancelled, it will exist as an IP, which might someday, down the line in the future be picked up for more seasons.
Previously existing IPs being picked up for renewals is also a recent trend for the industry. Tudyk jokingly pointed out that it might be easier and faster to get their IP bought for more seasons than to get a renewal for another season:
"It’s a weird goodbye because the show’s very popular. By all metrics from a different time, that would assure another season. It’s just in this climate, the TV world is changing in a big way, and I feel like because we’re canceled now, we will become an existing IP, which then could be revived. So the quickest way to get a next season is to be canceled, oddly."

However, the Resident Alien creator, Chris Sheridan, when asked about the possibility of another season, pointed out that such a thing wasn't considered until now. He added that even though they weren't renewed for another season, Resident Alien Season 4 had a beautiful ending for the series, and another season somewhere else wouldn't feel right:
"That has not been a discussion. … If we weren’t able to tell our story the way we wanted to, that is something I think that we’d want to do. But I think because this season is what it is and, in such a beautiful way, finishes telling the story after four seasons, I think just hopping into a fifth season somewhere else doesn’t feel right for the show."
Even though the creator, Sheridan, has been mostly hesitant about such a possibility, Tudyk, given the chance, would consider a revival of Resident Alien.
