The fun sci-fi TV series, Resident Alien, offers a unique tale of an alien crash landing on Earth. His mission? To destroy the planet and humanity by disguising himself.
The story kicked off in Season 1, in which the Alien kills a local doctor in a small Colorado town and starts pretending to be Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle. As he begins living among humans, he slowly starts to understand and feel human emotions
But there's a twist: Harry's alien form is only visible to one person in the whole town, who happens to be a kid named Max. Initially, Harry plots against the kid to get rid of him and conceal his identity, but his plan fails.
As the series continues, Max and Harry develop a weird bond, whihc becomes a key plot in the story. Following the success of three seasons, Resident Alien returned with a fourth Season on June 6, 2025.
The first two episodes are out, in which we see Harry has now lost all his powers after being imprisoned on the moon with his alien daughter. Now in the latest episode 2, Harry struggles to accept the fact that he's no longer the alien he used to be.
Keep reading to explore who stole Harry's powers.
Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2 recap: Harry starts to feel like a human and rushes off to Vegas
Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2, "The Lonely Man" opens with a 52-year-old flashback in which a young Eleanor McCallister watches an enormous alien craft drop mysterious tech onto a beach.
The biggest twist of the hour is subtly hinted at by that one image, but first, we jump back to the present, where Harry is experiencing what can only be described as an identity meltdown. He learns that he hates milk, bursts into laughter when tickled, and flinches at insignificant sounds.
All thanks to the Greys, who've left Harry feeling painfully mortal in the second episode of Resident Alien Season 4. Asta, Sahar, and Max then quickly get Harry out of the cabin, which is now under the control of the Mantid alien.
Sahar suggests that Harry's odd behavior might be caused by an "inhibitor chip" as they hasten to leave. Harry hopes that the theory is true because he isn't prepared to face the more terrifying possibility that he might be permanently trapped as a human.
Harry turns to Bruce, the last full-blooded Grey alien left on Earth, after Joseph admits there's nothing he can do to help. Hoping for some lightness, Harry heads to Las Vegas, joking about seeing a Magic Mike show. But things take a serious turn when they find Bruce in bad shape, barely surviving, and slumped at a slot machine.
Struggling to breathe, Bruce tells Harry the painful truth: the Greys never used any chip. They stole all of Harry’s alien energy, leaving him completely human. Heartbroken, Harry almost goes through with a selfish plan to hand Bruce back to the Greys just to get his powers back. But in the end, he can't do it.
As seen in the Resident Alien Season 4 episode, he brings Bruce’s remains home, gently scatters what’s left of him in the lake, and quietly mourns. For the first time, Harry truly feels the weight of losing someone who once helped him without asking for anything in return.

Joseph's heartbreak and a new alien threat in Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2

As the episode continues, Joseph tries to win Asta’s heart in the most awkward way by hiring a violinist and proposing at the clinic. Asta gently turns him down, reminding him they’re just friends with benefits. Crushed but changed, Joseph later shows up in town badly injured after facing the Mantid, missing an arm and burned, trying to prove his worth.
His wounds spark a fierce reaction from Kate, who’s convinced he knows where their missing baby is. Fueled by anger and grief, she decides to find answers on her own. Meanwhile, the Mantid quietly slips away from Harry’s cabin and kills again, this time leaving a headless body in a motel.
Even calm people like Mayor Ben, who loses his temper during an interview, are shaken by the horror in the town. D'Arcy then secretly delivers baby Daisy’s blanket to Kayla as a small but heartfelt gesture in the episode.
Big secrets shake things up in Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2
Later in the Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2, Deputy Liv finally drags Sheriff Mike up the mountain to prove aliens exist. Inside a cave, they discover the same weird slime Mike once locked in a duffel bag.
When Mike’s hand comes out coated in it, his skepticism disappears. Now that the town’s top cop believes her, Liv suddenly has real backup in the search for the deadly Mantid creature and the missing Hawthorne baby.
Far from Patience, General McCallister digs up a piece of buried alien tech at the lighthouse from her childhood flashback, the very part Harry hoped to trade for his stolen powers. As McCallister pockets the device, Harry is left with no clear path to becoming an alien again.
As the episode nears its end, Harry finally accepts his shaky human form, Joseph limps away in defeat, and Mike sees the world through Liv’s eyes at last. "The Lonely Man" lives up to its title as every character feels isolated in the end.
Resident Alien is available to stream on Peacock.
