The Chair Company, the HBO show that debuted in October 2025, has been renewed for a second season. Season 2 will continue the more absurd workplace comedy from Tim Robinson (Ron) and the splendid cast ensemble it has. One of them who is especially excited about the renewal is Lou Dimond Philips, who plays Jeff, Ron's boss in the show.
While speaking with TV Insider, Philips spoke about how his character arc will be in season 2. He jokingly teases that the show isn't killing his character and the season finale will be confirming the same while also setting up for the new season:
“I can say that a bit will be revealed in the finale that I believe will be a springboard for things that will happen in Season 2, so spoiler alert, they don’t kill me yet.”
The season 1 finale drops on November 30, 2025.

The Chair Company star Lou Diamond Phillips teases his character’s arc in Season 2
As mentioned, The Chair Company star Lou Diamond Phillips jokingly teases while without giving out any spoilers, that the show isn't killing off his character, Jeff. The season 1 finale will reveal key details about the coming season 2 and provide a foundation for the plots that will run in the new season. He also suggested that season 2 will explore Jeff's character better, adding more nuance:
“I like where this is going potentially… I think it’s going to create some real interest in who Jeff is and what Jeff’s arc is.”
In the HBO comedy series The Chair Company, Ron suffers a humiliating incident in his workplace when a chair collapses beneath him during an important presentation. This creates a major embarrassing moment for him.
However, this isn't the end; this small incident leads to a bizarre paranoia-driven investigation, pulling Ron deeper into what he believes is a company-wide conspiracy.
What do we know about Ron and Jeff's dynamics in The Chair Company?

Jeff, as mentioned, is the boss of Ron, the central character at Fisher Robay. The team is developing the design for a new mall. Jeff and Ron's relationship is strained, but season 1 pushes it into an unpredictable territory.
In episode 6, Jeff's behaviour crosses boundaries and he invited himself to the birthday party of Ron's teenage son. He also forces the entire team to work on a Sunday. Meanwhile, Ron's obsession with the "chair Conspiracy" is escalating and reaches its breaking point. He confronts Jeff in the office, and this fierce argument between the characters has left their professional future hanging.
Phillips explains Ron’s unraveling and how his outburst at Jeff was an accumulation of frustration:
“Ron just keeps getting twisted tighter and tighter as the episodes have unfolded because of this really frustrating chair company rabbit hole… and when he snaps, unfortunately, Jeff is the recipient of that.”
He hints that Jeff is the last person Ron should have snapped at, which sets up a tense, unpredictable trajectory for their relationship going into Season 2:
“I mean, [he’s] the one person that he probably shouldn’t snap at, so moving forward, the dynamic is going to get very interesting.”
Season 2 might explore Jeff's motivations quite clearly, while the power dynamics between the characters might get interesting, bringing more laughs to the viewers' faces.
The Chair Company episode 7 was released on November 23, 2025, as the season approaches its end.
