What happened in the last episode: Revival Episode 2

Episode 2, Keeping Up Appearances, had Officer Dana Cypress investigating deeper into a violent act perpetrated by one of the revived. Community tensions also began to simmer, particularly as suspicion against the revived grew.

Em Cypress then pursued her sense of herself in the new post-revival world, and Sheriff Wayne struggled to maintain the town and family from increasing outside pressure. The season concluded with hints that external powers would step in shortly, laying the groundwork for the conflict to be dealt with head-on in episode 3.

What to expect from the next episode

Audiences can anticipate the story further solidifying into institutional domination and political power. Although no synopsis has been made available, there is speculation that federal or state authorities will start flexing more muscles over Wausau. Em's emotional and psychological development may also continue to rise as she finds herself playing an increasingly pivotal part in the mystery.

While speculative, this path follows the serialized storytelling and momentum established by prior episodes.

Synopsis & key plot points for episode 3

In Reality Check, Wausau's own bosses start pushing down on them, too. Ibrahim Ramin (Andy McQueen), an epidemiologist with the CDC, comes to the town to study the public health effects of the phenomenon of resurrection.

Dana's murder investigation runs into a corrupt local clan both in terms of morals and procedure. At the same time, Sheriff Wayne Cypress starts getting pushed around by the state government, which starts to question his management of recent events.

Meanwhile, Em Cypress is torn between what she has lost and what she's trying to rebuild—identity and relationships getting more and more complicated day by day.

Episode 3 is a turning point in the episode. The introduction of a federal-level character (Ramin) and increasing state-level pressure on the sheriff's department raises the stakes of Revival sequentially from local disturbance to national concern. This realignment widens the scope of the series and points towards the increasing inability of Wausau's local institutions to manage the scenario independently.

At the same time, the internal emotional trajectories—specifically Dana's and Em's—are still of paramount importance in terms of the emotional weight of the episode, lending credibility to both the supernatural and terrestrial elements of the show.
