Based on Tim Seeley and Mike Norton’s American comic book by the same name, Revival is created by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, and premiered on SyFy on June 12, 2025. Consisting of 8 episodes, the official synopsis of the show as per Rotten Tomatoes reads,
“One miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly return to life. But these are not zombies, as the ‘revived’ appear and behave just as they did before. As the mystery of this phenomenon fuels unrest, Dana Cypress, a down-on-her-luck and crass police officer and single mother, is thrust into a peculiar murder investigation-one where the murder victim is now alive, and everyone, whether living or revived, is a suspect.”

More about Revival
Boyce and Koontz have been mostly faithful while adapting the comics to the screen. Talking about how they were certain of basing the first episode of Revival on the Issue 1 of the comics, Boyce said,
“Right away, we knew that we wanted Episode 1 to be Issue 1, which is perfect. It's just so well crafted, so we knew that we wanted to do that.”
While the issue provided a solid blueprint, Boyce mentioned that they had to ensure that they were working towards building the town properly in the first episode itself along with providing enough materials to the characters while ensuring that the episode comes to an end where the comics issue does.
Boyce further noted that the cliffhanger where the first episode ends is quite “phenomenal” adding,
“But it's tricky because you have these co-leads, Dana and Em, and they're both important, but you have to suppress them a little bit, right? We don't know who Em is as well, because we're really getting to know Dana in Episode 1 which is our really faithful approach to the comic.”
Since the creators are staying mostly faithful to the comics, viewers who have not read it will have an authentic experience, albeit on a different medium.
Revival will be available on Peacock for streaming.
