Robin Hood Episode 9 starts as Rob and his crew come back to Warwick Castle. They are dead set on payback this time. Turns out, Henry Miller got killed in the Sheriff of Nottingham’s trap last episode, and it has got Robin and the gang seeing red. Rosemary, Henry’s sister, is furious, and you can just see the bloodlust elevating, especially towards Norman overlords.

So, the outlaws make their way into the castle and kidnap Lord Warwick. He has made a career out of being ruthless to Saxons, ranting about how they are no better than wild animals and deserve to be whipped and punished. The Merry Men haul him off, kicking and screaming, right into their forest hideout to get what’s coming to him.

In the forest, Warwick is on his knees, sweating, rattling off promises for hidden gold, secret passageways, and a bigger loot than Westminster. He is scrambling, but nobody is buying it. Robin and the crew see Warwick as the poster boy for every Norman who has ever ruined their lives.

Except, you have Friar Tuck standing there. He is not having any of it. He thinks torturing and killing a defenseless person is cruel, wrong, and against God’s teachings. Tuck has one foot in both worlds: Norman by blood, Christian by heart, and everyone else is a Saxon, clinging to old gods and old wounds after years of suffering.

Little John jumps in, arguing that the Saxons deserve payback. Rosemary has been burning for revenge, but when the moment lands in her lap, she just can’t do it. She freezes in the final moment. Robin Hood Episode 9 shows that it’s one thing to wish someone dead, but another thing to pull the trigger.

Drew Miller, on the other hand, doesn’t hesitate. He steps up, does what the others won’t, and ends Warwick then and there. He calls it justice for his brother, and most of the Merry Men nod along. But Tuck is done. He says the line has been crossed and tells Robin he is meant for something more than just blood for blood. Then he is gone, out into the trees, leaving the camp quieter, tenser, and emptier.

The Sheriff’s spy and Tuck’s return

While the Merry Men are out here thinking they have pulled one over on Nottingham, the Sheriff is already three steps ahead. Turns out, one of the so-called “rescued” prisoners was a total plant. The sneaky spy gets close to Robin’s crew, gets all the inside info, and then goes back to spill everything. He reveals the exact hideout location, and the Sheriff sends the guy back with one job: take out Robin Hood, quietly.

His plan almost works in Robin Hood Episode 9. While Robin is out in the woods, the spy creeps up, arrow ready, and it looks like curtains for our Robin. But then Friar Tuck, who has apparently been lurking around thinking about his decision, spots what was about to go down. He jumps in, a violent struggle follows, and Tuck ends up stabbing the spy to death.

Afterward, Tuck is wrecked, freaked that he just killed someone. They drag him back to camp, and after a lot of soul-searching, he accepts that it was self-defense, not cold-blooded murder. Still, he doesn’t sugarcoat things for Robin. Tuck says if Robin is just out for payback, he is never going to be the hero they need. The Sheriff has to go, plain and simple, or nothing is ever going to change.

Danger at the palace

In Robin Hood Episode 9, Queen Eleanor at Westminster faces Prince John after discovering his undercover moves to get the Pope’s backing via the Archbishop of Lille. The correspondence was revealed by Marian Huntingdon, who notified the queen, anticipating to safeguard Richard’s right to the crown.

John is livid and reacts with an ice-cold fury. He throws a fit, spits some nasty words at Eleanor, then storms off. It doesn’t take long before he figures out Marian is the one who ratted him out. So, he slithers up to her, all polite and charming, and invites her for a stroll. Marian shuts him down, which is when John drops the act completely and attacks her.

That’s the last straw for Marian. Whatever illusions she had about the palace being all noble and proper are gone in a flash. She finally sees the place for what it is, a nest of vipers dressed in silk. With some inside info from Priscilla, who slips her the directions to the outlaw camp, Marian bails on Westminster.

Guy of Gisbourne enters the game

The Sheriff of Nottingham goes up to Queen Eleanor, thinking he finally got one over on Robin Hood. He has found the guy’s hiding spot! He just needs a couple of hundred soldiers to wipe them all out. Except that Eleanor says that he is not calling the shots anymore as of Robin Hood Episode 9. Turns out King Henry II already sent Guy of Gisbourne, a knight with a mean streak and zero moral compass.

Gisbourne wastes no time getting close to the Earl of Huntingdon (Marian’s father). Apparently, they are both cut from the same ruthless cloth. They create a nightmare plan: they will lure Robin out by slaughtering a Saxon village in the woods. Even the Sheriff thinks that’s brutal. But Gisbourne couldn’t care less about Saxon lives. So, they go through with it. The village is wiped out, with just carnage everywhere.

Queen Eleanor had already given the Sheriff a heads-up: Gisbourne’s showing up is a death sentence for his career. Once Robin is out of the picture, Gisbourne is primed to seize the Sheriff’s job. Eleanor tells him he’d better do whatever it takes to stop Gisbourne, but it’s not clear what that even means or how the Sheriff is supposed to pull it off.

Marian and Robert choose each other in Robin Hood Episode 9

Marian goes straight into the trees and finds Robert, blurting out the bad news: his hideout is blown, Guy of Gisbourne is gunning for him, and he needs to get out. While she is at it, she finally confesses to being in love with him. She even admits that swanning around at court felt fake compared to the way Robert lives. Turns out Robert once asked Queen Eleanor to set Marian free, instead of asking for his own pardon.

However, Robert doesn’t want to bolt. He wants to protect his people. Still, just to check if Marian’s story, he and Drew go to Nottingham Castle. They see that soldiers are preparing for the war.

The next day, Robert and Marian ride out together and run straight into the ashes of a wiped-out Saxon village. They stand there, hand in hand. Still, it’s kind of a moment for them, with all the drama behind them, at least for now. Meanwhile, Rosemary is lurking in the background, being jealous of Marian.

Elsewhere in Robin Hood Episode 9, William Marshal has to deal with a situation that is no less than an impossible choice. Queen Eleanor commands him to go alone to Rome and prevent Prince John from having an audience with the Pope, by any means necessary. The way she puts it shows that she wants William to get rid of John.

William concludes that the outcome of the whole situation will probably cost him his life, so he breaks up with Priscilla to keep her away from the dangers that are surrounding him. Priscilla is devastated, but soon her suffering transforms into determination. She has not yet revealed Marian’s love for the outlaw Robin Hood, setting the stage for chaos.
