Stranger Things premiered in 2016, and the world has grown more complex with each season. Every season introduced new characters and plots, which will all converge in the final season. However, these seasons, along with Vecna's terror upon the small town of Hawkins, also brought unimaginable losses and deaths.
One such death at the very start of the season remains hurtful to this day. Many fans felt this character didn't get the closure they deserved and was forgotten too soon. The Duffer brothers, it seems, have heard the fans, and this character will be making a comeback in the final season, but not in the way one might hope.
Keep reading to find out who this fan-favorite character is and how they'll be making a comeback in the final season.
Stranger Things final season will bring back Barb (not in the way you would think)

The "#Justice4Barb" hashtag trended after Stranger Things premiered in 2016 and was one of the markers of the show's early popularity. Many fans felt that Hawkins never responded strongly enough to her death or disappearance, as her death was initially portrayed.
Shannon Purser's Barbara was Nancy's best friend and was taken into the Upside Down in the first season, like Will. While Will returned from the Upside Down by the end of the season, it was too late for Barb. Her loss was made worse when her death was portrayed as her running away to hide the government's activities.
The final season of Stranger Things, it appears, will bring back Barb, but not in the way fans might expect. Time Magazine, during a set visit, spotted Barb's body on set. The body is described as:
"Covered in inky black vines made partly of spray-painted pool noodles, the dummy’s lips purple and slightly agape with a giant bleeding gash on her neck, the fan-favorite character is half buried in the ground."
So, even though we won't see Barb alive again, her body being on set might mean that the rest of Hawkins will finally discover what actually happened to her. Her family and friends might then finally get the closure they deserve.

Fans were enraged by her fate in the show, which led to the hashtag trending. It turns out even the Duffer brothers kept receiving the same feedback before the season's release:
"The one note that we consistently got back was, ‘What about Barb?’ And we're like, ‘It's a show about Will. Netflix kept harassing us about it. And it turns out they were right. We neglected her, and as such, Hawkins neglected her, and it made her that much more famous."
Barb's death was one of the biggest motivations for Nancy in Stranger Things. She battled a lot of guilt and sorrow after Barb’s death, holding herself responsible for her being alone at the time she was abducted into the Upside Down. Even in later seasons, Vecna is able to get into her mind because of the guilt she carries over Barb’s death.
Hopefully, the audience will finally see the fan-favorite Barb get the "justice" she deserves.
