Xavier's letter and Profeta's ultimate power play in Rulers of Fortune

The ending of Rulers of Fortune is undoubtedly a visual treat. The seamless blend of tension with the slow revelation of the truths proves the talent of the creators. At the end of Rulers of Fortune, Xavier’s death leaves an impact. We see Xavier in a hotel room, swaying to music and sniffing a chemical that induces a haze-like situation for him.

He slowly loses consciousness and ends up dying in the bathtub. Soon, after his death, Galego is informed about Xavier’s death. He is completely devastated by the news. He, along with Leila and his son, leaves for the hotel. However, before they could reach the hotel, Leila asked Jefferson, aka Profeta, to visit the hotel room to check if Xavier had left any letters or photos behind that could create a problem for them.

After Profeta visits the hotel room, he finds that Xavier had indeed left a letter for his brother. Profeta promptly takes the letter with him and leaves the room before Galego arrives. The contents of the letter are truly something unexpected for Profeta.

In the letter, Xavier mentions that his life “lost its flavor”, for which he had to take this step. However, besides telling the reason for taking the step to end his life, he adds a crucial detail about Leila that he was not able to tell him. He writes that he hid the truth about Leila having a son with Jose when they ran away together. He adds that though he had killed Jose, he could not kill the child. In the end, he adds that Leila’s son is none other than Profeta.

Profeta is shocked to find the truth and begins to reminisce about the time he met Leila. Soon, he gets a call from Leila asking him if he found any letters in the hotel room. However, instead of telling her the truth about the letter, Profeta lies and tells her that there was no such thing in the room. He also adds that he is “at her service”. The revelation of the truth about Profeta’s past undoubtedly would pave the way for more complications in the second season of Rulers of Fortune.

At the end of Rulers of Fortune, Profeta discusses with Mirna about entering the board and how they are going to navigate through this new challenge together. Profeta enters the board meeting ready to take on the new challenge on his way. With most of the hindrances in his path removed, he is all set to enter this world.

There is a distinct tense atmosphere the moment he enters the room; however, he soon begins to shake the hands of the members, including his half-brother, Santiago. Now that he is aware of being Leila’s son, things are definitely going to get complicated. He might be all set on the path of revenge.

Renzo’s words about having a similar relationship with his uncle, just as Galego had with Xavier, definitely add a layer of intrigue. Now that Profeta’s power play is complete and he has achieved a seat at the table, it would be intriguing to see how the story unfolds in the next season of Rulers of Fortune.
