Netflix's latest thriller series, Run Away, is full of twists that will keep you hooked till the end. Even though the series has limited gritty scenes, it deals with sensitive topics like drug addiction, violence, cults, and the like.

For Minnie Driver, who plays Ingrid Greene, Paige's mother, it's a different experience, especially in a scene when she gets shot by one of Rocco's partners, Luther.

In a candid chat with Radio Times, Driver points out how mentally exhausting it was to shoot the gun sequence and its aftermath; she revealed that she wasn't ready for it. She said,

"The amazing thing about being an actor is you get to dip into these scenarios and explore it, and then you can duck out and go, Wow that was wild and this is how much it took out of me, but yes, it was worth it, because it's amazing storytelling, or No, I never want to do that again."

After getting shot, Ingrid is taken to the hospital where she works as a pediatrician, and it turns out the bullet did more harm than it looked like. She falls into a coma. Speaking about the sequence, Minnie Driver added,

"I love the prosthetics and how brilliant that is-the mechanisms they use for gun wounds, blood, and the pumps and all of that, because it's super creative-but the actuality of miming being shot by a bullet is horrible. I didn't find it fun at all."

Thus, even though Minnie Driver appreciated the prosthetics and the setting of the sequence, she revealed that it was a challenging shoot.

What is the plot of Run Away?

The series delves into a missing case that unravels into something far more sinister. It all starts when a father (Simon) frantically searches for his missing young daughter, Paige. When he finally finds her in a park, high on drugs, along with a man called Aaron Corval, he attacks Aaron (thinking he's responsible for the chaos). However, before he can catch them, Aaron and Paige run away.

Unfortunately, Simon and Aaron's altercation goes viral, and when Aaron is found dead, Simon becomes a suspect. The detectives start their investigation to find Aaron's murderer and visit his apartment for evidence.

Meanwhile, Simon and Ingrid meet Corelius Faber, Paige's neighbour, who informs them about Rocco, a drug dealer whom Paige met before she went missing. When they finally go to meet him, Ingrid gets shot.

She is then taken to the hospital when she falls into a coma.

After Rocco's associate, Luther, shoots Ingrid, she gets badly injured and ends up in the hospital. She falls into a coma. While Simon and PI Elena continue finding Paige, they uncover several secrets that tie Paige's missing case and the murders to a cult. But the shocker comes right at the end.

When Paige finally returns, we learn that she confessed to her mother, Ingrid, that she had been s*xually abused at university and turned into an addict under Aaron's influence. After Aaron dragged Paige from the rehab and assaulted her, Paige informed her mother, and she stepped in to save her daughter. She went to Aaron's apartment and killed him.

When Ingrid finally came out of the coma, Simon asked her about Aaron's murder, and she revealed that she had an alibi, Jay, who could cover up if anything went wrong in her plan. Turns out, Luther saw Ingrid coming out of Aaron's apartment on the night of the murder, so he shot her when they went to meet Rocco.

In the end, and the final twist, we learnt that Aaron and Paige were half-siblings and they shared the same mother. Paige revealed that Ingrid told her that she was part of the twisted cult, and she got pregnant by The One, and she was lied to that her baby was stillborn. She managed to escape the cult. So in the end, it was Paige who drove Ingrid to believe that Aaron was abusive to her when, in reality, she was his half-sister and Ingrid's son.
