Along with Bowen Yang, notable stars who would receive the honor include Penélope Cruz, Bruce Springsteen, and Walter Salles. The award is to honor artists who "help challenge dominant narratives in cinema."
Despite his absence from SNL, Bowen Yang has been part of the NBC show for additional work, including writing. Sharing his absence with his fans, he shared an Instagram story on October 18, 2025.
He noted that he would miss the latest show. Additionally, he also cheered for Sabrina by sharing "Sab is amazing" in the same story. He wrote that it would be "sooooo fun." However, fans can enjoy Bowen Yang's performance from the pre-taped skits of the NBC show.
