Sara - Woman in the Shadows ending explained: Who killed Sara’s son Giorgio?

The latest Italian thriller from Netflix, Sara - Woman in the Shadows, deals with a mother’s quest to find the truth behind her son’s death. The mother in question here is Sara, who is a former Secret Service Agent and is compelled to go back to her past to find the reality behind her son’s alleged accident, which was cited as the reason for his death.

In the process, Sara takes the help of Teresa, her former colleague, and together they embark on a journey, at the end of which they end up taking the law in their hands because the system does not do them justice.

While the story started as an investigative thriller, with each episode, Sara - Woman in the Shadows goes much beyond the death of Sara’s son and exposes a corrupt system where everything runs like a well-oiled machine and criminals go unpunished because of the power they hold.

As Sara comes to know it was the respected medical professional Ludovico Terzani who killed her son, she does not think twice before extracting her revenge. Let us now explore in detail what happened at the end of Sara - Woman in the Shadows.

Giorgio was killed by Ludovico Terzani in Sara - Woman in the Shadows

Sara’s quest to find the killer of Giorgio formed a significant, if not the primary mystery of Sara - Woman in the Shadows. Sara was told that her son had died as the result of a car accident but she never believed it completely.

Therefore, when she starts investigating further into the said accident, it becomes clear that there is so much more than what the police had told her.

Sara discovers that the car accident which apparently killed her son was caused by Ludovico Terzani, quite a well known doctor. However, what comes as a shocking revelation is that Terzani had a personal bone to pick with Giorgio because of a woman named Silvia Prati.

She had briefly dated Ludovico and then rejected him, which drove the doctor mad. Therefore, when he saw her with Giorgio, he was consumed with jealousy and decided to drive him over.

When Sara comes to know of the whole truth, she feels enraged. Because of her job in Secret Service, she was never able to give her son the time he deserved and thus felt even more guilty about his death. Therefore, when the culprit emerged before her eyes, she did not hold back and killed Ludovico the same way he had killed Giorgio.

Terresa kills Enrico Vigilante in Sara - Woman in the Shadows

Another woman who takes justice in her own hands is Terresa, Sara’s former colleague who also brings her back to the field to help her with investigating the murder of Sergio Minucci, Teressa’s husband. During the investigation, the name of Enrico Vigilante comes up and he is shown to be someone who has long eluded the Secret Service Agents despite their repeated attempts to get hold of him.

It is revealed that Sergio was working to expose the corrupt politician Tarallo. However, his long-time girlfriend Rachele grew jealous of him and Teressa and told his plans to her father Paolo Anzovino, who was also the politician’s head of security.

Anzovino then went to talk about the plan to Vigilante, who simply ordered Sergio’s death. When the whole picture becomes clear to Teressa and she realizes that the system will never punish men like Vigilante, she decides to shoot him point-blank on his morning walk and thus gives herself the justice that the department failed to provide.
