The popular rom-com series Sex and the City ended after 94 episodes in 2004. Sarah Jessica Parker played the fictional Carrie Bradshaw, the central character as well as the narrator, in it. Other actors who appeared alongside her include Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and more, all of them friends.

Recently, Sarah Jessica Parker talked to Entertainment Tonight, where she told them why they had to end the show, and its sequel series called And Just Like That.... She said,

"The first time that Michael and I arrived at the very difficult decisions to end the initial series, we never thought of it as finite, we thought that this is the time now out of respect and affection for the work and more importantly the people that we love, that make the work. And it was the same this time. It was a version of agony to decide to end the show this time. But it's simply because we love it, you know. I think being comfortable can allow you to stay and that's not the reason to do it. You have to have something to say."

The sequel to Sex and the City was also a revival of the show, which was first aired on December 9, 2021, bringing the beloved characters back, and ended on February 3, 2022, after 33 episodes.

The actress played Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist in a fictional newspaper called The New York Star. Her love interest in the series, Mr. Big, is portrayed by Chris Noth, and both go through several breakups throughout the show. However, he isn't the only one in a relationship with her. Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) and Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov) are among them.

Her character was made deeper, as, other than her appearance in Sex and the City, her creator, Candace Bushnell, also wrote adult novels called The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City, establishing her as one of the most popular characters in the pop culture scene.

The Carrie Diaries was also adapted for a TV series in 2013, running for 26 episodes. In it, AnnaSophia Robb played Parker's Sex and the City character. Other than her, Austin Butler, Ellen Wong, Katie Findlay, and more appeared in the series.

For most of Sex and the City, she is portrayed as someone trying to persuade her longtime love interest, who is Mr. Big, to commit to a long-term and, probably, permanent relationship, for that matter. Though she never succeeded in that.

Her portrayal of Carrie in Sex and the City landed her a couple of awards, including Best Actress in a Television Series — Comedy or Musical at the Golden Globes, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmys, and more. Speaking of the show, it won seven Emmys, eight Golden Globes, and more.
