The well-known American parody film series Scary Movie makes fun of horror and thriller movies with humor. The franchise made its debut in 2000 with Keenen Ivory Wayans' Scary Movie, which went on to become the highest-grossing film in the series.

Five movies that parody well-known movies, including Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Haunting, The Ring, and War of the Worlds, have been released over the years. Anna Faris and Regina Hall are among the returning cast members. The series has made almost $900 million worldwide, and a sixth movie is in the works, despite critics' mixed opinions.

The original star from Scary Movie, Lochlyn Munro, is returning for Scary Movie 6, which will go into production next month. Fans could anticipate seeing him return to the role he played in the 2000 movie. The Wayans brothers are also featured in the new film, which pays homage to the franchise's history while promising fresh chuckles.

There's something to be thrilled about for Scary Movie fans. One of the original cast members of the 2000 smash, Lochlyn Munro, has hinted that he may be back for Scary Movie 6. Filming is scheduled to start next month, Munro recently informed Fab TV. For devoted viewers, his return appears to be a heartfelt homage to the franchise's origins, which transformed our perception of horror humor.

The most well-known part of Canadian actor Munro's decades-long career is his portrayal of overconfident high school athlete Greg Phillippe in the original Scary Movie, and as the movie hilariously parodies classic late-90s horror movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, his character gets caught up in the chaos.

Munro's career outside of Scary Movie has been diverse. In addition to television shows like Charmed, Riverdale, and the DC blockbuster Peacemaker, he has starred in movies including White Chicks, Freddy vs. Jason, and Cosmic Sin. He has become well-known in the film industry because of his charm and versatility.

Given how far the horror genre has come since Scary Movie 6's premiere in 2013, the timing of the sixth picture is notable, and over the last decade, fans have witnessed the rise in popularity of films such as Hereditary, Midsommar, Get Out, The Conjuring series, and even modern celebrities such as M3GAN.

These films mix tension with a more sophisticated storyline, making them suitable for parody. Similar to how the original Scary Movie mimicked the biggest movies of the day, this new picture is inspired by a completely new age of horror, and Munro's return serves to bridge the gap between the two.

Paramount and Miramax are working together to bring the Wayans brothers—Marlon and Shawn—back to the project. The two were the main stars of the original and made major contributions to its witty and incisive prose.

Their presence is a comforting indication that the brand will maintain its unique humor. With a June 12, 2026, release date firmly set, Scary Movie 6 gives fans something to anticipate. Even though the whole cast list has not yet been revealed, Munro's confirmation is the first significant piece of news that creates a lot of enthusiasm.

For Lochlyn Munro, this is a return to a project that shaped a part of his career, not simply another work. The happy, irreverent comedy that made Scary Movie a worldwide success may be experienced by fans. The first film left a legacy of amusement and made almost $300 million at the box office.
