The satirical dark comedy show Scream Queens once faded from the screen due to low ratings and less viewership. However, it has now slowly begun to gain popularity. It cannot be denied that the show was way ahead of its time. The creator of Scream Queens, Ian Brennan, just like every fan of the show, believes that the show got cancelled too early.

Right after the release of the second season, the news about the cancellation of the show was released. It was revealed by Brad Falchuk in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,

“it wasn't working. People weren't watching it. But I've never had more fun. Fox might not have been the right place for it, and I think it was a little ahead of its time. It probably belonged on a streamer.”

The showrunner of Scream Queens, Ian Brennan, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, speaks about how Scream Queens deserved more time before cancellation.

He also suggests that the rise of the streaming platforms, which changed the way the entertainment industry worked, changed quite a lot during the time Scream Queens was released. He says,

“It was really at the end of network [television] and the rise of streaming. A network executive could have been forgiven for being like, ‘The ratings keep going down.’ But they would do this all the time. They’d cancel a show that was getting like a one and then replace it with something that got a point seven, and now they would give their eyeteeth for the ratings we were getting then.”

The change in the streaming methods brought forth a new way of watching our favorite shows. Scream Queens would have undoubtedly done great if the show had been released on streaming platforms then. The show is now available for streaming on Hulu.

The availability of the show on a streaming platform was the main reason Scream Queens has gained such popularity in recent times. Ian Brennan also adds,

“It was such a fun, funny show. And we had really good ideas for where it could go next. What was great about that show was that you get to send up all the horror tropes. The first one was college girls. The second one was macabre body horror, a hospital setting, but actually, we were tasked with putting it in that section. What we were going to do in the second season, which I would probably do in a third, would be to set it at a camp. Scream Queens would be set at a Friday the 13th camp.”

His words definitely make us wonder whether there would be a possibility of getting a revival for Scream Queens, which has now become a cult favorite. The show has now received a 7.1 rating on IMDb. If a third season happens, then the fans will definitely have a gala time.

If you have watched Scream Queens, then you must know that there were certain storylines that could have been explored more. It probably might have been left for the third season, which ultimately did not happen. Hence, if a third season of Scream Queens does indeed happen, the show can continue from there. Ian Brennan is undoubtedly open to bringing the show back, as he adds,

“And I wish it was still on the air.’ So, we’ll see, you never know.”

Scream Queens’ co-creator, Ryan Murphy, in an interview with Deadline, also adds about his interest in another season. He says,

“Yes, I’d be up for it. The fans should write Fox and say they want this, Fox Studios and the network.”
