The Wizards of Waverly Place sequel started on the grounds that Selena Gomez's Alex Russo brought Billie to Justin so that he could train her. Nobody knew who Billie's family was or why a prophecy had named her as the only person capable of saving the world from an impending catastrophe.

The two-part finale of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place finds Billie discovering that her crush, Quentin, was working for an evil lord to get information on her. However, he ends up having real feelings for her, which forces him to betray Lord Morsus and confess the truth to Billie. In fear of being hurt by Morsus and hurting Billie, he runs away.

While Justin pairs up with Selena Gomez's Alex and his wife, Giada, to get more information on this Lord Morsus, the kids sneak out of the house to find Quentin, putting their lives at risk. While the adults discover that the name Lord "Torodus Morsus" was an anagram for "Doom to Russos," and his real name is actually Penwolf, the kids are in grave danger.

The adults rush to find the kids, only to be tied up by Penwolf with them as he uses Billie to open a rift connecting the dark world to their world. Finding Billie in pain, Alex cries, which sheds a tear on the Penwolf locket, leading to a memory spell being lifted.

The real secret that has been hidden for so long about the Wizards of Waverly Place character comes to light.

Alex is Billie's real mother, and she had used a spell to make everyone, including herself, forget about Billie's origins to protect her from the evil wizard.

The happiness of remembering her own daughter doesn't last long, as the rift that Penwolf had opened needed to be sealed from the other side, forcing Alex to sacrifice herself for her daughter's safety.

The Wizards of Waverly Place sequel, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Season 2, wrapped with Selena Gomez's Alex Russo tackling Morsus into the portal and closing it behind her.

Billie finds family and loses one of them on the same day. Even if for the shortest while, Billie knew her mother and now can live with the memory that she died protecting her.
