An iconic children’s TV show, Sesame Street captured the imagination of young viewers when it first aired on November 10, 1969. And now, Netflix is back with the 56th season of the show on the same date, i.e., November 10, 2025.
The original series was conceived by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett and used muppets to instill children with educational values. Sesame Street used puppetry, animation, and live-action to offer young viewers a chance to better understand their feelings and develop emotional skills.

The new season of Sesame Street will be back on Netflix from November 10, 2025, and the 56th season will bring back the iconic characters of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and more. Further, the show will also be available on PBS stations and PBS KIDS digital platforms on the same date for viewers.
According to Tudum by Netflix, each new episode will have a 11-minute main story and will therefore allow the characters to delve deeper into the topics and humor of the show. Further, the new season of Sesame Street will focus on developing problem-solving skills and nurturing emotional regulation.
Executive producer Sal Perez states,
“Sesame Street’s curriculum is designed to meet children’s most pressing needs — so our focus this season is on kindness and compassion... Something we can all use more of today.”
According to New on Netflix, the new series will be released on Netflix through three volumes and there will be four episodes in each volume. Each episode will be around 30 minutes in length and it will have 11-minute main story segment and an animated series in-between.
Further, the latest season will have new segments like Abby’s Magic Beasties, which will offer visually rich and emotionally fulfilling lessons. However, the show will also retain its iconic segments like Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck.
According to Tudum by Netflix, the new season will also feature celebrity guest stars like Miley Cyrus and Bubba Wallace, and children’s favorite characters like Zoe, Grover, Bart, Elmo, and others will be present.

According to ABC, the 11-minute main story in the first episode will focus on Elmo, Abby, and Zoe having various kinds of races in their neighborhood, and they will be cheered on by puppet chickens and also feature Wallace’s commentary. Further, Bubba Wallace will also be featured in the episode. According to head writer Halcyon Person,
"I just love when we get to bring celebrities to 'Sesame Street' because they bring their own flavor, they bring their own point of view and experience. And so much of that Elmo racing episode was just heightened by Bubba being there..."
According to Perez, the latest season will also employ the technique of breaking the fourth wall to bring in the young viewers.
"This is just another way to really build that relationship and make children feel like they're a part of the action, that none of what's happening in the story could happen without them and that our characters really need them."
In terms of the new segments on the show, Tales from 123 is a new addition, which will allow viewers to take a look inside the apartment building where the beloved monsters live, according to ABC. Further, the first Tales from 123 will focus on Elmo wanting to meet Grover for a playdate but both of them get into adventures and Tango has to save the day. According to Perez,
"This gave us an opportunity to get a peek inside. You have our amazing cast of characters living in an apartment building, with Elmo and Tango having really physical comedy adventures throughout, really zany adventures."
