The Television Critics Association has announced its official nominations list for the TCA Awards 2025. Out of all the shows that have been honored, Severance takes the lead as the most nominated show. The Apple TV+ show got five overall nominations.

It is closely followed by Adolescence from Netflix, The Pitt and Hacks from HBO Max, and Apple TV's The Studio—each of which got four nominations.

The TCA Awards 2025 honor programming that premiered from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025. Winners will be revealed online later this summer. There will be no in-person ceremony this year due to the summer press tour's cancellation. The TCA Awards are now in their 41st year and are voted on by 235 members of the TV Critics Association.

Apple TV+ Series Severance earns five nominations in the TCA Awards 2025

Severance has five nominations across some of the most tightly contested categories in the TCA Awards 2025, including Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, and three individual nominations for Individual Achievement in Drama for Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman.

This robust presence in both program-level and performance-based categories indicates the show's sustained critical success after its second season.

Adolescence, The Pitt, and other shows close behind

Although Severance tops the list of nominations, four other series are hot on its heels, with each having four nominations. These include Adolescence, Netflix's coming-of-age drama; The Pitt, HBO Max's drama; Hacks, HBO Max's comedy; and The Studio, Apple TV+'s entry.

The nominations underscore the competitiveness of this year's lineup on both streaming and cable platforms. All four of these shows are nominated in several categories, including overall as well as genre-specific awards. Their inclusion speaks to the increasing viability of original TV content on many different services.

Program of the Year: A highly competitive lineup

One of the most highly anticipated categories of the TCA Awards 2025 is Program of the Year. The category includes eight contenders: Severance (Apple TV+), Adolescence (Netflix), The Pitt (HBO Max), Hacks (HBO Max), The Studio (Apple TV+), Andor (Disney+), The Rehearsal (HBO), and The White Lotus (HBO).

The presence of such a diverse group of shows—ranging from drama and comedy to science fiction and experimental programming—is representative of the broad scope of storytelling this television season. Included are both traditional hits as well as newer series that have rapidly gained critical traction.

Awards for Drama, Comedy, and Performance

Aside from Program of the Year, the TCA Awards 2025 have several other categories like Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, and two Individual Achievement categories.

Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman were nominated for Severance in the drama performance category. Other individuals nominated are Kathy Bates, Harrison Ford, and Michelle Williams.

Variety points out that those individual categories tend to be the most discussed acting performances of the year. The Severance nominations indicate a good showing not just for the series overall, but for the richness of its cast as well.

Voting process and virtual announcement

The nominations for the TCA Awards 2025 were chosen by the 235 members of the Television Critics Association. All these journalists report on television in all of its forms, broadcast, cable, and streaming. With the summer press tour cancelled, winners will be announced on the internet via TCA's official social media, as reported by Variety.

According to Forbes, this online format enables the organization to continue honoring television greatness while minimizing the problems associated with hosting an in-person event.

Severance takes the top spot of the 2025 TCA Awards nominations with five, and Adolescence, The Pitt, Hacks, and The Studio each have four nominations.
