Severance Season 3 is set to return, giving fans something exciting to look forward to.

Ben Stiller, the former director of the show, in his recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, confirmed that Severance Season 3 of the Apple TV series is on its way, saying:

"You know, it'll be soonish."

However, Ben Stiller didn't reveal a confirmed release date for Severance Season 3, explaining that the new season is still in progress. He mentioned they've only completed around nineteen episodes over the past five and a half years.

The update has come as a relief for Severance fans who have been waiting for Season 3. Severance's first season was released in 2022, followed by Season 2, released earlier this year.

Created by Dan Erickson, the TV series features Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Zach Cherry in the main cast.

The series has scored an 8.7 rating on IMDb, marking it in the tenth position among Apple TV's most popular shows as of now. The official synopsis on Apple TV reads:

"Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically split between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague shows up outside the office, it sets off a journey to uncover the truth about their jobs."

What to expect in Severance Season 3?

Season 1 of Severance mainly followed Mark Scout, a character played by Adam Scott, and his journey as he slowly starts noticing that something is off at Lumon, the company he works at. We see how his work self and outside self are living two completely different lives. It also revealed Helly's breakdowns, a character played by Britt Lower. It also shows Mark's wife, Gemma, who was actually alive and working at the same company, Lumon, bringing a twist.

In Season 2, instead of staying with just Mark and how he discovered his wife, it let the viewers understand the other characters better: Helly, Irving, and Dylan. Additionally, it also digs deeper into what Lumon was trying to achieve with severance. The series shows how Mark decides to prioritize himself by taking off with Helly and eventually stepping away from Gemma as he tries to break free.

Both seasons of Severance were loved by fans for all the twists and turns. Talking about the season finale, Ben Stiller told Variety:

"Young love running into the pit of hell. There was a brief moment where we thought, maybe we do another cliffhanger where Mark is between Helly and Gemma. But, pretty soon after, we realized we can’t do that again — people will kill us. So, we wanted him to make the choice and set up a dystopian conflict."

Severance Season 3 is expected to take the story in a much bigger direction. With Mark and Helly now aware of the secrets Lumon has been hiding, the new season will shed light on the consequences. It will also explore the choices they'll make as they continue to deal with the company. We might also see more of Gemma and Mark.

Additionally, viewers might come to know more about the power Lumon holds and, if lucky, the real reason behind the severance procedure in Severance Season 3. Talking about the show and the time it's taking to create it, the creator, Dan Erickson, told Variety:

"‘Severance’ has always been a show that takes a long time to make, and we’re proud of what we came up with, even though it took quite a long time."

Severance is streaming on Apple TV.
