“She's a hustler”: Minnie Driver on why she decided to join Emily in Paris Season 5

Back in May 2025, it was announced that the cast of Emily in Paris Season 5 would be joined by the Oscar-nominated actress, Minnie Driver. Now, as the season saw its premiere in Paris yesterday, the actress shared her thoughts about her character, and she describes the character as someone who is not just an ordinary woman but a hustler.

Minnie Driver plays the role of Princess Jane, who is a friend of Sylvie's who ended up getting married into a royal family. The actress was beyond thrilled to share her involvement with the cast, and back when the casting was announced, she even took to her Instagram to share the news.

Now, after the season premiere took place in Paris, the 55-year-old actress reflected on her experience playing the role and opened up about what made her join the cast of Emily in Paris Season 5.

At the premiere for Season 5 of Emily in Paris, Minnie Driver opened up about the real reason why she joined the cast of the show, and the writing and character building of the women in the show played a huge role in her decision.

"The writing was really great, and I feel like I know women like this. They're women who look one way but you never know the whole story. They're funny and they're survivors. You can never believe that, it's never going to be over for them; they're gonna keep fighting all the way through. I love women like this."

Speaking about her own character, Driver calls Princess Jane a hustler.

"She's a hustler. She loves to hustle."

Emily in Paris has already seen four successful seasons and has garnered quite a fanbase worldwide. The show explores a young American woman as she tries to adjust to a new life in Paris, where she faces a lot of cultural differences and encounters a lot of new people, with whom she eventually grows various kinds of relationships.

Aside from Minnie Driver, Emily in Paris Season 5 also features a stellar cast full of returning faces, including the likes of Lily Collins as Emily, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, and Lucien Laviscount. Eugenio Franceschini will also reprise his role as Marcello.
