Lucy started as a naive rookie in the freshman season (paired up with the tough Tim Bradford as her training officer), and she came a long way. The recent season not only confirmed that Lucy passed her Sergeant's exam, but she also ventured into the dangerous world of undercover work with Nyla.Over the course of The Rookie’s seven-season journey, Lucy’s professional evolution stood out, culminating in her well-earned promotion to Sergeant. But Melissa O'Neil was quick to remind Lucy's fans that Lieutenant Wade Grey assigned her to night duty, which significantly increased her problems. After working with a talented team of officers (Angela, Nyla, Nolan and Tim) in her rookie years, Lucy started working with the night-shift officers in Season 7, who did not match her pace and working style. As Melissa O'Neil added, Lucy was separated from the core team in the previous season, but she was adjusting to her new schedule and role:''She's separated from everyone which is not good but she's being a boss. That's good.''It would be interesting to see what new challenges The Rookie Season 8 will bring for this fan-favorite character. In addition to her night shift role as Sergeant, the recently released trailer suggests she will also partake in another dangerous undercover assignment with Nyla, increasing the stakes for her in the eighth season. Will Chenford reunite in Season 8? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostAs O'Neil humorously reminded her fans, Lucy was dead asleep when Tim asked her to move in with him. While the finale did not reveal whether Lucy heard Tim's proposal, the chances are quite slim. However, The Rookie Season 8 trailer hints that Tim will pop the question again, but Lucy will likely turn his offer down. Since Tim broke her heart by abruptly breaking off things, she is not ready to trust him again.Showrunner Alexi Hawley has also hinted that Chenford will likely reunite in the upcoming season, but the couple still has many hurdles to navigate. Since communication has never been a strong suit for the couple, the eighth season will allow Lucy and Tim to communicate, repair, and then restart their relationship from scratch.Tune in to The Rookie Season 8 premiere on ABC on January 6.For the latest scoops on your favorite TV shows and movies, follow SoapCentral.
