Sheriff Country is a spin-off of CBS's popular show, Fire Country. Although both shows will essentially be in a similar setting with a similar pretext, Sheriff Country will show a much different side of town as compared to Fire Country.

The show, starring Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, will continue to explore the interesting trajectory of how one can efficiently police in a town where they already know everybody. However, since the show is a crime show, Sheriff Country will explore the darker side of a seemingly quaint and happy town.

While Sheriff Country will feature a lot of similarities with Fire Country and share a similar background, there is one major difference that makes the two shows vastly different from one another.

Sheriff Country will see a much darker side of Edgewater as compared to Fire Country

Sheriff Country will see Morena Baccarin donning the role of Sheriff Mickey Fox, who is in charge of a different part of the town of Edgewater. While Fire Country mostly dealt with the police tackling natural disasters, like fire and so on, Sheriff Country will take a different, much darker approach.

The spin-off will show Fox as she deals with the darker side of people in the town of Edgewater, an aspect that has been left unexplored in the original series. She deals with several such incidents while she is also dealing with a rough situation involving her child and ex-husband.

Speaking about the upcoming spinoff, showrunner Matt Lopez emphasizes the importance of the town setting. He says that living in big cities, people are more used to the idea of ot knowing the police officers personally, which makes the exchange very transactional. However, that is not the case with small towns like Edgewater. He says,

"What is it like to police a community in which you know everyone and everyone knows you? In part, that’s Mickey's superpower. But we'll also see that it can be a little bit of a blind spot for her."

Speaking about how things take a much darker turn in Sheriff Country, Lopez adds,

"In Fire Country, the enemy or the adversary, if you will, is the elements, right? It’s fire. It’s fire and nature in many ways. Here, it is human beings. And as soon as you enter that into the equation, it takes you to some very interesting places."

Season 1 of Sheriff Country will be available to watch on CBS starting October 17 at 9:00 PM.
