Shifting Gears Season 2 has added Jesse Williams to its cast in a recurring role. The ABC sitcom revolves around Matt Parker (played by Tim Allen), whose life takes a new turn when his daughter Riley (played by Kat Dennings) and her children move in with him, forcing him to face new challenges. Williams is known for playing the celebrated role of Dr. Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy. He has also appeared in other successful projects such as Only Murders in the Building, Hotel Costiera, Little Fires Everywhere and Lee Daniels’ The Butler. His life pivots when his daughter, Riley, along with her children Carter (played by Maxwell Simkins) and Georgia (played by Barrett Margolis) move in with him after things turn sour with her husband Jimmy (played by Lucas Neff).In the previous season, Riley finally decides to divorce Jimmy and her father’s co-worker and her childhood friend, Gabriel (played by Seann William Scott) confesses his true feelings to her, but alas she falls asleep. In the latest season, Riley is divorced and her possible future with Gabriel remains uncertain. As per Variety, Jesse Williams will play the role of Andy, a single father who often visits Riley’s coffee cart. The two are expected to strike a connection. No further details have been shared about the character yet.While speaking about the series, Kat Dennings had previously shared that she hoped that Riley would see a character growth in Shifting Gears Season 2. As per TV Insider she said,“… I hope we see Riley do some exploration of who she is now because she doesn’t really know who she is now without the ex-husband relationship and back living at home as a mom with two kids and have her discover her personality without the things that she is used to.
