C-drama lovers eagerly waited for Shine on Me, and it's finally here. The series follows the story from Gu Man's popular web novel, which centers on the lives of Nie Xiguang and Lin Yu Sen.

As seen in the first episode, Nie's journey began as a bright and energetic college student who has always been passionate about studying medicine. Soon, her life takes a turn when she sees Zhuang Xu, who happens to be an incredibly intelligent student who keeps his distance from others.

And when Nie grows up into a woman who no longer lives as a free student, she crosses paths with Lin Yu Sen. He also has an emotional past that brings them together. This way, the story begins.

What happened in Shine on Me episode 1: A quick recap

Episode 1 of Shine on Me introduces Lin Yu Sen as a brilliant doctor who has just completed a surgery and earned immense praise. Soon after, his close friend convinces Lin to go on a blind date.

Though Lin doesn't like to get involved in blind dates, he eventually agrees. However, little did he know that his life was about to change when he met a deadly accident on the highway.

This results in Lin taking a break from his medical career as his injury won't allow him to operate on patients. The focus then shifts to Nie Xiguang from Nanjing, whose parents have separated and she's carrying some scars from the past.

When her cousin’s new tutor, Zhuang Xu arrives, Nie Xiguang is immediately drawn to his confidence and charm. However, Zhuang Xu didn't like her back, so she decided to secretly love him.

A year passed and it was graduation time. And when Xiguang returns from her internship, she feels inferior after learning that Zhuang Xu has secured a prestigious banking job.

To make it worse, Zhuang Xu accuses her of not focusing on her career and relying mostly on her family and her father's influence. She gets hurt and tries to get a job. Though her resume got into a big company, it was revealed that it was again her father's influence.
