Here is the list of new cast additions for Season 2 of Shogun:

Asami Mizukawa as Aya

One of the new characters in Season 2 is Aya. However, her exact role is not yet known. The events of Season 2 will take place 10 years after the events of season 1. Therefore, Aya will emerge as the new generation in film world. Asami Mizukawa plays the role, and the actress has appeared in the 2022 horror film Dark Water, while also appearing on some TV shows and films of Japan.

Masataka Kubota as Hyūga

Kubota is cast as Hyūga, a character whose arc would portray the change in the political and warrior dynamics in the modern timeline. The cast announcement came in November 2025. Kubota starred as Ken Kaneki in the live-action Tokyo Ghoul (2017), among others.

Sho Kaneta as Hidenobu

Kaneta has joined season 2 of Shogun as Hidenobu, whose role may involve challenging the post-war scenario prevalent in the show's narrative. His character might be the one whose presence would create some friction and conflict for the narrative to feel layered and unfold gradually. The actor is less known internationally, but he is quite popular in Japan and has appeared in TV series and films as well.

Takaaki Enoki as Lord Ito

Enoki is cast as Lord Ito, suggesting a high-ranking samurai or feudal lord who will influence the power structures in Season 2’s modern setting.

Jun Kunimura as Gōda

Kunimura joins as Gōda; however, what's interesting about the character is that Goda is a completely grey character whose motivations and alliances can't be gauged, at least at the beginning of the show.

Ren Meguro as Kazutada

In a recent announcement, Ren Meguro is the one joining the cast as a new addition in Shogun Season 2 as Kazutada. The fans are excited about these new additions as Meguro is a singer and actor who debuted as a member of the idol group Snow Man in 2020.
