Prime Video's post-apocalyptic drama Fallout Season 2 rolled out its first episode this week, and things are looking intense as ever. After a chaotic Season 1 finale, the premiere episode of Season 2 sets the tone for the upcoming chapters. It's ready to unravel several mysteries as Lucy and The Ghoul continue their journey towards New Vegas.

What's even more interesting is that before the premiere of Fallout Season 2, the makers announced its renewal. Yes, Fallout is eying Season 3.

This Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins-starring show has already generated steady buzz among viewers and critics. Now that it's coming back for a third season, we have too many questions, including when Fallout Season 3 premieres.

Even though we do not have any updates on the premiere date, EP Jonathan Nolan told IGN that shooting for Season 3 will commence next summer. He noted,

" In regards to season 3, we are hoping to start shooting again next summer. Our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in reasonable amount of time."

He says that the gaps between seasons are an 'unfortunate trend' and that's what Fallout intends to break:

"You don’t want a show to lose any of its scope, but we know we would like to be on the air as soon as we can.”

Fallout Season 3 filming to commence in the summer of 2026

Even though not much is known about Fallout Season 3, the update that it's all set to start filming in the summer of 2026 gives us a few hints. For instance, Season 2 filming began in November 2024, and it premiered a year later in December 2025. Production was halted for several weeks due to the California fires. So if filming for the upcoming instalment starts around the summer of 2026, Fallout Season 3 might release in 2027 or even sooner (if there are no such halts).

Season 2 has ditched the previous release pattern and has adopted the weekly release schedule. New episodes will drop on Prime Video every Wednesday around 3 AM ET. Previously, in Season 1, all 10 episodes dropped simultaneously on the premiere day. Now that the show has garnered a steady fan base, the weekly release schedule works best, keeping the audience invested until the season finale.
