Shrinking Season 3 casts another 5-time Emmy Award-winning actor in a new role

Apple TV's Shrinking Season 3 seems to keep leveling up with its cast additions. The cast list wasn't lacking in Hollywood giants to begin with, with actors like Jason Segel and Harrison Ford on the list. With the recent announcement that 5-time Emmy-winner Michael J. Fox was joining the cast, fans were already hyped up for the third season.

To make things even more exciting, it was revealed recently that another 5-time Emmy winner, Candice Bergen, is also set to join the Shrinking Season 3 cast. Here's what we know.

Apple TV adds Candice Bergen to the Shrinking Season 3 cast list

Recently, during the "Bill Lawrence and Friends" event at Paramount Theatre, Bill Lawrence, one of the creators of Apple TV's Shrinking Season 3, let it slip that Candice Bergen would be appearing on the show as a guest star opposite series regular Harrison Ford and guest star Michael J. Fox.

Fans are looking forward to Shrinking Season 3, owing to the show's honest and heartfelt approach to relationships, grief, and mental health. Shrinking has this unique quality to get laughs and give heartache side-by-side, but never too much of either. As Jason Segel's Jimmy Laird lets go of all pretenses and filters after his wife's death, the show is just as heartfelt and emotional as Jason's journey on it.

So, witnessing seasoned actors like Bergen and Michael J. Fox on the show is going to be an extremely heartfelt experience. The fact that Michael J., who has been living with Parkinson's and has been a powerful voice in the advocacy for research and awareness since the early '90s, is stepping into a show where one of the characters was inspired by him is an extremely full-circle moment for Shrinking Season 3.

Lawrence agreed when he was talking about his experience working with Fox again, and he let slip the spoiler about Candice's casting:

"He’s one of the greatest people I’ve ever met,” Lawrence said of Fox. “He’s one of my mentors. And man, what an inspiring dude, the way he’s living his life. So to get to have him back, working with him… I didn’t expect to have career highlights at this point in my career and I was on set about 10 days ago watching Harrison Ford and Mike Fox and Candice Bergen — oh a spoiler!"

Since this reveal appears to be an accidental slip on Lawrence's part, there's no information about the character Bergen is going to play in Shrinking Season 3. Whatever it is, it will be extremely exciting to watch her on the Apple TV show, because Shrinking has this beautiful way of making the characters greater than the actor playing them.
