Signora Volpe Season 3 confirmed: Acorn TV renews the Emilia Fox detective drama for another chapter

There’s good news for fans as Signora Volpe Season 3 has been confirmed. Created by Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths, the British mystery crime series features Emilia Fox and Giovanni Cirfiera and premiered on Acorn TV in 2022. The show has two seasons till now and the series focuses on former British spy Sylvia Fox (Fox), who is trying to settle down in her new life in Panicale, Italy, but her past comes back as she has to put on her detective hat and solve local crimes in the area.

The show began with the premise that Sylvia is disillusioned by her MI6 job and decides to leave London for the sunny locales of Italy. She initially lands in the country for her niece’s wedding, but soon gets embroiled in a mystery surrounding the groom. Each season only has three episodes; therefore, the show is an easy binge-watch.

And with Deadline confirming that Signora Volpe Season 3 has been greenlit by Acorn TV, fans of the show and those who love detective fiction can finally await the return of the sleuthing series. Here’s more on the story.

According to Deadline, Emilia Fox is in Italy and is shooting for the third season of the show. Acorn TV, the streaming partner for the show, has renewed the detective drama, and the new season will also have the three-episode format, with each episode being 90 minutes long. In Season 3, Sylvia Fox is back on her feet as she has now recovered from her kidnapping in Season 2. As she settles down once more in Italy, she also wants to know about her ex-husband’s dealings with her kidnapper.

According to Deadline, Signora Volpe Season 3 will see the former British spy investigating the murder of the owner of a local winery and also searching for the murderer behind the death of a young man, who is found in the bed of a famous couple, who don’t know him. Further, Sylvia’s relationship with Captain Giovanni Riva will also develop a new dynamic and deepen. However, Riva’s desire to settle in Umbria will be a hindrance to Sylvia. Finally, Sylvia will also have to get emotionally strong as someone close to her will have a violent death, and her ex-husband, Adam, will return and ask for her help.

Deadline reports that production will begin in September in the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy. The show is produced by Route 24, which is an ITV Studios-backed production company. Apart from Emilia Fox, the show also features Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones) as Sylvia’s sister, Giovanni Cirfiera (Le Mans ’66) as Giovanni Riva, Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) as Adam Haines, and Buffy Davis as Miriam Cavendish.

In an interview with Newsweek, Fox had earlier talked about her preparations for the role of a spy. According to the actress, she worked with people with real-life experiences in spy craft.

"I did research with someone who had done a lot of espionage work.”

Further, Fox was excited to have gotten this role, as fewer women get such characters. The actress also enjoyed the fact that the show has funny and romantic moments as well. Fox also enjoyed the environs of Italy, “every morning you wake up to the beauty of Italy… delighted to be found living the Italian dream."
