Netflix's latest dark comedy limited series, Sirens, saw a shocking finale, where Devon's suspicions about her sister Simone and the first Mrs. Kell were proven wrong.

Throughout the series, Devon was sure that Simone's new boss, Michaela Kell, the wealthy philanthropist, was a mysterious woman who ran her own cult and had murdered her husband Peter's first wife, Jocelyn.

In addition, there were also rumours on the island that thirteen years ago, Michaela had an affair with Peter and she murdered the first Mrs. Kell to take her place and the power and money that came with it.

However, the Sirens finale revealed that the first Mrs. Kell was alive and living a remote life on an island, following a disastrous plastic surgery that left her disfigured.

More on this in our story.

Exploring the whereabouts of Mrs. Kell in Sirens

With Michaela's mysterious control over the island and her status as a wealthy and elite woman, Devon was confident that the woman not only harmed her sister Simone, but she also murdered Peter's first wife, Jocelyn.

Throughout the series, Devon doubts Michaela's loyalties, assuming that she murdered Peter's first wife to take her place as the new Mrs. Kell, as the title came with power and luxuries.

This assumption directly led her to question Michaela about the first Mrs. Kell in front of everybody at the gala.

However, Devon and the others were in for a surprise in the Sirens finale, as Michaela revealed the whereabouts of Jocelyn. Devon learns that the first Mrs. Kell is very much alive and living on a remote island off Washington state.

She chose this reclusive lifestyle following her disfigured state after a disastrous plastic surgery. In addition, Michaela included Jocelyn in a non-disclosure agreement signed by the Kell household's staff because she wanted to respect her privacy.

What does the Sirens ending actually mean?

While Devon (and the viewers) were quite sure that Michaela was a Siren (monster) who murdered the first Mrs. Kell and was responsible for Simone's disappearance, that was not the case.

Instead, the Sirens finale revealed that she was the target of Peter's monstrosity, as he had also now replaced Michaela with Simone. Just like Peter chose a younger, attractive lawyer in Michaela thirteen years ago, he chose Simone again and replaced her as the new Mrs. Kell.

This decision highlighted an important theme, that the 'other woman' is often painted as the monster. While Peter was the one who actually replaced Jocelyn with Michaela, he did not receive any cold treatment or suspicion from the outside world.

Even Devon assumed that Peter was a victim of his wife's control, and she was sure that Michaela was responsible for Simone's disappearance. However, the Sirens finale saw Peter replace Michaela with Simone, and the former was stripped of her title as Mrs. Kell and she boarded the ferry with Devon.
