Kody Brown dropped a major truth bomb in the newest Sister Wives episode, he admitted he’d been faking feelings for some of his wives all along. Sitting down with Robyn, the last wife still in the picture, Kody finally took the blame for his family falling apart instead of pointing fingers like before. He said out loud what fans have long suspected, that his love for Robyn outshined everyone else’s, and the imbalance eventually tore everything down.

The confession hit hard, coming after years of drama, heartbreak, and legal untangling. Since premiering in 2010, Sister Wives has followed Kody, his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, and their 18 kids through every messy move, money fight, and emotional storm imaginable. After Christine, Janelle, and Meri left in 2021, Kody was left in a monogamous marriage with Robyn.

Sister Wives’ Kody Brown takes ownership for his shortcomings

Kody openly declared that the family's dissolution was his fault.

"I need to own it," he stated during the episode.

For years, he had pointed fingers at his first three wives for the marriages falling apart. Now, he's accepting his role as the person responsible for holding the family together. The admission came while discussing whether to add another wife to the household. This context made his confession particularly significant, as it revealed why he might hesitate to expand the family again.

Kody’s biggest confession hit like a plot twist no one saw coming, he finally admitted he couldn’t love all his wives the same way. Sometimes he even faked it, trying to keep up the act. His bond with Robyn was always stronger, and that uneven love story eventually cracked the whole thing apart. The rest of the wives probably felt it too, the weird silences, the little glances, until they all decided enough was enough. Kody said he spent years stewing in anger about how things fell apart, but now he’s trying to let it go and find some peace, though that’s easier said than done.

After all the emotional chaos on Sister Wives, the family finally sold their Coyote Pass property in Arizona, wrapping up at least one piece of the mess. It gave Meri and Janelle something solid to move on with, literally. But not everything’s tied up with a neat bow. Janelle admitted she lent Kody and Robyn money she’ll probably never see again, deciding it’s just not worth the fight. Maybe emotional freedom counts as interest.

What does this mean for Kody Brown?

Kody's polygamous lifestyle comes to an end with his confession on Sister Wives. The difficulties of sustaining multiple marriages are exemplified by his transition from patriarch of a large poly family to monogamous spouse. His admission that he pretended to have affections validates his ex-wives and clarifies why the family unit finally fell apart. Whether he can repair relationships with his former spouses remains uncertain.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC and streams the same day on Discovery+.
