Emily Hampshire, known for her role in the acclaimed series Schitt’s Creek, has joined the cast of Crave’s upcoming comedy series Slo Pitch.
According to the exclusive report by Deadline, Hampshire is set to join the main cast alongside Jess Salgueiro, famous for her role in Paramount+’s revival of the classic sitcom Frasier.
Other cast members include Karen Knox, Emma Hunter, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Chelsea Muirhead, Khadijah Roberts-Abdullah, Lane Webber, and Amanda Cordner. The list of guest appearances includes Ayami Sato, Varun Saranga, Don MacLean Jr., Laura De Carteret, Carolyn Taylor, Chris Sandiford, Chris Locke, and Nadine Bhabha.
Emily Hampshire joins the cast of Slo Pitch
Emily Hampshire’s role in Slo Pitch is shrouded in mystery so far, as the details have not been publicly revealed. Nevertheless, she is one of the lead actors in the series.
Slo Pitch is produced by Shaftesbury (known for Murdoch Mysteries), Boss & Co., and PAGEBOY Productions. Notably, Hampshire serves as an executive producer for Shaftesbury.
The series is produced by J Stevens, Karen Knox, and Gwenlyn Cumyn (Knox and Cumyn also star in the series). It is based on the previous short-form series and has been extended by Katie and Jane Cooper Ford to television. It is being co-produced by Bell Media and PAGEBOY Productions, the first venture they have worked on together since they signed a development agreement.

“Welcome to the world of beer league sports, where Joanne Pico (Salgueiro) is to coach six-time league losers, The Public Lass Brovaries. Coach Joanne is dead set on turning things around this season despite having just been brutally dumped by her girlfriend and co-founder of the team."
"Throughout the summer, Joanne leads her lovable, chaotic crew through a season of strikeouts, petty rivalries, conservative-politician sponsors, and sexy carwash fundraisers gone wrong. With her ex now playing on a rival team, Joanne’s got a lot to prove this season. It’s time to win the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout.”
Based on the original web series, Slo Pitch focuses on a unique team of characters who overcome the ups and downs of a slo-pitch softball tournament. In the original web series and its television adaptation, the Brovaries are an underperforming softball team that cares more about beers and social relations than about winning.

The plot line is their trip to the league championships, during which they have to play against their opponents like the Toronto Blue Gays and then later they have to play against a new opponent named The Jugglies. The main characters are Joanne, the obsessive coach with a convoluted personal life; Sasha, a fiancée of Joanne and a successful lawyer; and Boris, a German immigrant and a key character, among others.
The initial announcements focus on Joanne Pico (portrayed by Jess Salgueiro) and the challenges of the softball underdog team, but there are no comprehensive plot details on the new series that determine whether all the initial story lines and characters, such as Sasha and Boris, will be portrayed in the same manner.
