Prime Video released new images of its first Danish crime thriller, Snake Killer, produced by Amazon MGM Studios. This suggests the show is likely in production and the release is nearing. The show is being produced in collaboration with Nordisk Film Production, which grants Amazon exclusive rights and access to the Nordic countries.
Snake Killer is created and directed by Anders Ølholm, who also co-directed the acclaimed Danish thriller Shorta.
Leading the impressive cast is Pilou Asbæk, known for playing Euron Greyjoy in Game of Thrones. At the heart of the thriller's story is Copenhagen’s mobile drug squad, Uropatruljen. Asbæk plays a rogue cop who walks the line between law and lawlessness, launching a fierce war against a dangerous crime family after one of his informants is murdered during the investigation.

What else do we know about the Snake Killer?

Reports indicate the show may premiere in 2026 on Prime Video across Nordic regions. It will be a four-part limited series based on real events related to Copenhagen’s notorious narcotics unit, known as Uropatruljen, infamous for its extreme tactics in the 1980s–1990s.
The show depicts the protagonist who supports the right cause but isn't afraid to break the law to achieve it. When one of his team members dies during an investigation, he declares war on a powerful criminal network. His only goal is to bring down the criminal family by any means necessary.
Therefore, for those who enjoy complex characters and exploring their moral extremes, they should look forward to the upcoming show.
