Game of Thrones featured several powerful actors portraying complex characters, with Lena Headey's Cersei Lannister standing out. In retrospect, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Lena Headey bringing such bravado to the role of Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones.

Headey appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live about a decade ago, and in an unexpected twist, she revealed a sporting aspect of her personality. Headey and Kimmel engaged in a humorous back-and-forth in true Game of Thrones style, complete with wine goblets and all. Here's everything you need to know.

Kimmel began the segment on his show by stating that Headey had her own fascinating way of drinking wine from a goblet on Game of Thrones; consequently, Kimmel wanted to recreate the same with her on the show. He then pulled out two goblets and a bottle of wine. The studio lights soon dimmed, and foreboding music reminiscent of the HBO show began playing in the background. Headey kicked off the conversation with straight-up offense when she stated:

"That is a lovely tie. It's a shame that it's around such a worthless neck."

Kimmel was momentarily taken aback before retorting:

"Well, thank you for coming today. I know you have a busy schedule, doing sex with your brother must be so exhausting."

As the studio audience burst into peals of laughter, the Game of Thrones star snapped:

"So you host a television program. How fun! You should enjoy it while it lasts."

Kimmel, however, showed no signs of slowing down:

"You know you're so good on the show, is it a challenge to play Cersei? Or you just naturally suck the life out of every room you enter?"

Headey was seen enjoying the back and forth and commented:

"You have such a way with words. I wonder if you'll be as clever when I have your tongue ripped from your throat."

Without a doubt, Headey's portrayal of Cersei in Game of Thrones has become one of the most ambiguous performances, making it difficult for the audience to easily categorize her as purely good or bad. Speaking with Time Magazine, Headey had previously opened up about her love for the character:

"I love playing Cersei. I’m very intrigued to see what happens to her! She’s so layered, endlessly. Every time you think you know her, there’s another depth of insecurity or fury or resentment or drive or grief. George gave David and Dan the map. And David and Dan and Dave and Bryan write great episodes year after year."

She was then asked about Cersei ruling at the end of the sixth season:

"I couldn’t believe that moment. I never saw that coming in a million years, I never thought she’d have the balls to finally go, “All right then, I guess I’ll f—ing do it.” It was a great moment. I’m sure getting the seat of power is never comfortable on every level. But she’s aware. She’s aware of all of the s–t, the pain she’s created for everybody."

Game of Thrones is available on HBO.
