The end of the year is here, and this week has been tough on every TV show getting its final verdict on renewals and cancellations.

The final fate of every TV show depends on viewership and the popularity within the first few weeks of premiere. Many TV shows were already marketed as a limited series and hence canceled afterwards, while some, after their successful previous seasons, have been renewed for another round.

If you are someone who has missed this week's announcement on shows' cancelled or renewed, Soap Central has come up with a compilation of the same you could refer to. Keep reading to know more.

Boston Blue

Boston Blue, the CBS show, has been renewed for season 2 after its phenomenal season 1 premiere. It is a Blue Bloods spinoff and stars Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, working now with the Boston Police Department. The show has appeared to be even more successful than the original show itself, with roughly 8 million viewers watching the show within the first few weeks of its debut. Therefore, the platform didn't waste time further and renewed the TV show.

Last Samurai Standing

On December 19, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the renewal of Last Samurai Standing for season 2. The TV show had performed well both internationally and domestically, remaining among the top 10 non-English trending shows on Netflix. While in Japan, it became the most talked-about show, topping the list straight for 4 weeks. All of these reasons have contributed to the decision behind its renewal.

Heated Rivalry

Heated Rivalry's season 1 is being praised and has gained widespread acceptance among the audience, leading to its renewal for season 2. The TV show centers around two professional Ice Hockey players from rival teams who often play against each other. Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov develop feelings for each other, and romance between the two spices up as they continue to play for their countries, chasing their ultimate dream.

The concept and story have been liked by the fans, and season 1 has also left several angles to be explored in the new season. Will they be able to keep it a secret still? The pressure is mounting, and the characters are in an internal conflict, finding it difficult to choose between love and ambition.

Boots

Like other shows in the list, Boots doesn't seem to have the same fate as it has been canceled after only one season. In a recent announcement, Netflix confirmed that the show won't return. To our surprise, it isn't that the show got fewer viewership and critics' scores. Boots gained around a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes and strong reviews, but the reason behind the Network not picking up the show was a result of other external factors.

Boots is a story of a closeted teen who joins the US Marine Corps in 1993 when Bill Clinton passed a law to bar gay, lesbian, and bisexual people from serving in the military. This is the reason it became part of some controversy. Moreover, streamers usually change their focus of programming based on trends, and even if a show is performing well can be canceled if it doesn't coincide with this strategic shift.

According to reports, producers had already outlined storylines and were about to take the characters to active conflict after boot camp, before the cancellation.
