Solène Favreau joined Below Deck Season 12 with just 22 days of experience in yachting. Her limited background has been a point of conversation among viewers and crew alike. While other stews on St. David stepped into their roles with ease, Solène’s approach has already raised concerns among the crew. During the first charter, her interactions with fellow crew members were marked by resistance to guidance and hesitation around core responsibilities.

Solène questioned the way certain tasks were handled and openly avoided cleaning toilets, despite it being part of the job. As tensions simmered among stews, Chief Stew Fraser Olender attempted to maintain patience. With expectations high aboard St. David, the early impression left by Solène stands out—especially when compared to her more experienced peers on the yacht.

22 days of experience poses challenges on Below Deck

Solène arrived with less than a month of yacht experience. Although it’s not uncommon for new crew members to learn on the job, the pace of life on a superyacht offers little room for hesitation.

However, concerns mounted when Solène appeared reluctant to carry out expected duties. Her unwillingness to clean bathrooms and her repeated pushback on instructions drew attention. These behaviors created friction within the interior team—especially during high-pressure charters.

On Below Deck, roles come with demanding responsibilities. Without demonstrated initiative, new stews can quickly fall behind. Solène’s early days on board have placed her under close watch.

Solène’s past reality TV experience resurfaces

Although Solène is new to yachting, she’s no stranger to reality TV. Before appearing on Below Deck, she was featured on Love Island France, The Villa of Broken Hearts, and The Brain. Her social media presence, which includes over 38,000 Instagram followers, adds another layer to her on-camera background.

Given her past on multiple reality shows, some viewers have questioned her motivations for joining Below Deck. Her familiarity with interview segments and on-screen dynamics is evident, but some crew members have focused more on her performance than her media experience.

While previous reality appearances don’t automatically conflict with a yachting role, the show has consistently highlighted crew members who prioritize their responsibilities on board. As the season progresses, Solène’s reasons for joining may continue to be part of the wider discussion.

Romance adds another layer for Solène

As dynamics continue to shift on Below Deck, one connection getting attention is between deckhand Kyle Stillie and Solène. The two shared moments together, including a conversation by the dock where Solène laughed and said:

“I'm not sleeping with you!” clarifying boundaries early on.

Solène later shared personal details during a confessional, revealing that she was still dealing with a breakup.

“This bracelet is from my ex-boyfriend, Dylan,” she said.

Dylan Pierre De Villiers, her ex, previously appeared on Below Deck Season 11.

“We were very in love,” Solène said, before adding,
“Even after, I still love him.”

She explained that the breakup wasn’t due to conflict, but distance.

“We broke up because he was in another country,” she said, calling the experience sad.

Since then, she’s approached relationships with caution, as she’s not looking for a relationship.

Solène’s story continues to unfold

Whether it’s work performance, emotional moments, or flirtation on the dock, Solène’s time on Below Deck is already layered. From discussing her breakup to navigating new relationships and settling into the rhythm of yacht life, she remains a central figure in Season 12.

“I’m young. I’m free. I’m not looking for a relationship!” she declared, adding personal context to her current state of mind.

She reinforced those boundaries in later conversations with Kyle, keeping things respectful but clear. Her reality TV experience, coupled with her current challenges on St. David, ensures she remains a focal point this season.

As the season continues, Solène’s trajectory—whether she stays or departs—remains one to watch. Initial struggles on Below Deck have turned around before—and Solène’s story may be no different. For now, her role is still evolving.
