Son of a Donkey is an Australian comedy series featuring Theo and Nathan Saidden, who also produce, direct, and write the show. The series will stream on Netflix from October 30, 2025, and the show is produced by Princess Pictures.

The show will be a six-part series and will focus on Theo moving out of his parents’ house for independence, but he will eventually realize that adulthood is not as easy as it seems.

According to the official Netflix website,

“In Son of a Donkey, we meet Theo just as he moves out of his home to claim his independence — until he’s faced with the harsh realities of adulthood. From driving fines and daddy issues to internet scams and a lot of therapy, Theo and his best friend Johnny get up to their usual antics as they come to terms with what’s most important: family.”

Netflix confirmed the show at the end of May 2024, and production had also started, with filming taking place in Melbourne. The show is supported by Vic Screen and is produced by Princess Pictures for Netflix.

Mike Cowap, Executive Producer for Princess Pictures, also stated that the company was proud to have been alongside the brothers as they evolved from their online comedy sketches to an “ambitious season-spanning epic story.” He states that he is eager to see how the brothers grow in popularity as their first Netflix show is released, and viewers will get to witness their “trademark irreverent, slapstick humor.”

Caroline Pitcher, VicScreen CEO, also stated that they are happy to bring the “unique brand of humor” of the Saidden brothers to the global audience and the new show will “create 215 jobs and...inject over $5.5m into Victoria’s economy.”

The Saidden brothers have Greek and Egyptian roots, and their quirky humor led to the creation of Superwog videos on YouTube, which garnered over 55 million views, according to The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH).

In an interview with the SMH, Theo stated that they have always “loved impersonating people.” Further, the two of them are “very close,” and their “core foundations” are the same.

According to Theo, Superwog germinated when he got bored with his university studies and decided to get inspired by Sacha Baron Cohen and Fat Pizza and “so something for the wogs.”

Theo states that he and Nathan decided to “re-enact scenes” from their parents’ fighting, as they loved observational humor. Nathan states that both of them “always had fun” and that the videos were their “reality.”
