As mentioned, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Eddie Redmayne, who plays Jackal in The Day of the Jackal, asserted that the assassin's character is interesting in a way that it allows him to experiment and test his extremes by trying on various accents, voices, languages, etc., therefore offering an open playground to the actor.

"It’s an actor’s dream. I describe this show as a sort of actor’s playground, all the things that when you are little and the reason you get into acting [like] changing your voice, doing accents, doing languages, changing the way you look, makeup, stunts, all of that really, but also this quite intense depth of emotion. It had everything. It was a very easy yes for me."

He further expressed that he feels proud of the team for being able to pull off something like this and getting renewed for another season without revealing anything substantial about the coming season.

"I can literally say nothing [about season 2]. I was so proud of what we’ve worked on, and I’m so excited to see if we can push it to another level."

He didn't elaborate much on the character; he revealed that he has read some parts of the season 2 script.

In the Season 1 finale, many storylines were left unresolved, such as the Jackal getting betrayed by Timothy Winthrop. Winthrop hired Jackal to kill tech mogul Charles but then turned against him. On the other hand, Jackal is abandoned by his own family. So in season 2, the main plot could be centred around Jackal's revenge on Winthrop and his redemption while also exploring his connection with his family.

Eddie Redmayne suggested in the interview that the production is moving forward. While no official filming date has been announced, it’s a good sign that things are in motion. It can only be expected, based on the season 1 timeline, that the show might return in late 2026.
