According to the official website, the South International Series Festival is a ‘festival for professionals of the audiovisual sector and for the public.’ Held in Cadiz, the event cuts across borders to present a cosmopolitan lineup of global dramas and documentaries that will cater to not only the local viewers but also to the international landscape.
The festival has had two editions till now, and the third edition of the South International Series Festival, which will be held from 12 to 17 September 2025, promises an eclectic mix of shows and documentaries, ranging from high-profile releases to niche and diverse selections.

• El Centro – The spy thriller is produced by Movistar Plus and Pablo Isla’s Fonte Films and is created by David Moreno. Directed by David Ulloa, the Spanish series is realistic and focuses on the inner workings of Spain’s CNI intelligence service. The show will also revolve around a murder that will ignite a search for a traitor. The show will feature Juan Diego Botto and Clara Segura, among others.
• Atomic – An adventure show from the UK. This one is inspired by a non-fiction book by William Langewiesche and has a screenplay by Gregory Burke. The show focuses on the global threat of nuclear weapons and how increasing nuclear activity has become a terrifying reality in the present day. It features Alfie Allen and Shazad Latif and focuses on the friendship between the two, who are also mixed up in a cartel’s plan. The show is produced by Pulse Films and Sky Studios
• Futuro Desierto – This Mexican series is a six-episode dystopian psychological thriller that focuses on the extremely important topic of AI in modern times, and therefore, the South International Series Festival offers viewers a chance to discuss the issue of AI. • TikTok: The War of Data – As the name suggests, the docuseries looks at the rise of social media and the advantages and disadvantages that platforms like TikTok have on the present climate. It traces the geopolitical and social impact of such apps and features, expert interviews, and data analysis, and presents a cautionary yet well-researched take. The series is produced by Morgane Production and Arte France.
• La Húnhara, toma que toma – This three-episode documentary focuses on La Húngara, who is a revolutionary artist in flamenco fusion. The South International Series Festival lineup offers viewers the ability to look at art, artists, and follow their journey as this documentary does. The movie traces her humble origins to her rise to the Latin Grammys. It is produced by Lyomedia for Mediaset’s Infinity platform.
• Vulnerables – This Spanish docuseries focuses on how young people have become addicted to social media, especially after the pandemic, and how that is affecting their mental health. It is developed with the help of a psychiatrist and is an Onza Entertainment production for Atresmedia.
