For a show barreling towards its third decade, South Park sure doesn't feel like it would end anytime soon. Considering how quickly the episodes have recently been addressing headline political events in real time, it almost feels like the animated show has been injected with new life.
So, fans of the animated show have a long time before they have to start worrying about the show's ending, especially considering the billion-dollar deal that the creators just signed with Paramount+. However, we're 28 seasons in, and even if the end isn't soon, it's not like the animated show can go on forever.
Showrunners Trey Parker and Matt Stone are well aware of this reality and have even thought about what their final episode would look like after decades of working on the show.

South Park creators on what they think the final episode would look like
It's hard to imagine what South Park's end would look like. The long-running, chaotic animated show is currently in its 28th season. It continues to maintain an enduring popularity and rising viewership, leading to it being in the headlines with every new release.
Nevertheless, back in 2018, during a conversation with IGN, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker revealed what they thought the end of South Park would look like when the time does come.
Stone and Parker revealed that first off, they had no idea what a final episode would look like because they had never thought about it. However, it's not what one would assume. It's not that the creators think that the show will go on forever. It's just that all these years they've been waiting to get cancelled. They're pretty sure that the animated show's iconic run's end would be a whimper.
"I think it's going to end with a fizzle, for sure. I think it's just going to end with some dud, and we're gonna go, 'F*** this, man,' and walk away."
According to the creators, there's a very low chance they'd plan a "final episode," or so to speak, for South Park and just find themselves done with the show one of these days. It has been 7 years since this interview, so that hasn't come around thankfully, and it won't at least for some more years now. Nevertheless, the creators did reveal that they themselves have been waiting for the animated show to be cancelled ever since they started:
"Some sort of whimper. Either drop the mic, get sued, get thrown off television -- something like that. Yeah, we've thought that for 18 years. We're like, 'Okay, well, they're going to cancel us, for sure!' We've been waiting to get canceled for 18 f***ing years."
While the creators did consider the possibility that they'd find themselves fatigued of the animated show, there's a much greater possibility that they'd never stop until they're cancelled:
"We won't stop until we get canceled. We're renewing. They have to f***ing cancel us, goddammit!"
Nevertheless, considering its ever-rising popularity, South Park isn't ending anytime soon, and the comedically fearless Parker and Stone continue to reign.
