Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 5 is titled Goddess of Death. It will release on December 26, 2025.

The story unfolds in an alternate timeline. It gives us a totally different angle on Ashur, the infamous Syrian gladiator everyone loves to hate. If you want to catch the action, it’s dropping only on Starz, one episode per week. The show kicked off back on December 5, 2025.

Imagine if Ashur didn’t actually die on Mount Vesuvius in Spartacus. In this universe, he comes back and actually gets handed the keys to Ludus, the same place that once had him chained up. All because he decided to play nice with the Romans, help them squash Spartacus, and crush the slave rebellion.

Spartacus: House of Ashur drags you back into the grittiness of ancient Rome, where you are just as likely to get stabbed in the back at dinner as you are in the arena. The political maneuvering here is deadly. People are scheming all the time, and it’s just as bloody as the actual gladiator fights. They didn’t water down the franchise’s signature style. The latest show features brutal battles, s*xual tension, and drama.

Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 5 lands Thursday, December 26, 2025. The usual time is 9 PM EST, 6 PM PST on Starz. If you miss it live, it will show up on the Starz app and on demand the next day.

Episodes have been dropping every Friday night ever since that two-parter kicked things off on December 5. The season is packing ten episodes total, so with this one, we are just hitting the halfway mark.

If you are new to Starz, you have choices: Regular price is $10.99 a month if you go through their website or app, but they always give some promo. Sometimes it just costs you $1 a month for a whole year if you pay upfront, or $2.99 a month for your first three months.

In the cast, we have some OGs and a couple of fresh faces. Nick E. Tarabay is running the show as Ashur. He is making his way up from slave to boss of the same Ludus that used to keep him locked up.

Lucy Lawless drops in for a quick cameo as Lucretia, showing up from the afterlife to tempt Ashur. Then there’s Graham McTavish as Korris, he is Ashur’s Doctore, whipping gladiators into shape while hiding who-knows-what behind that stone face.

Tenika Davis is Achillia, and she is wrecking the Roman boys' club. She is the first gladiatrix ever in the franchise, smashing skulls and expectations. Jamaica Vaughan plays Hilara, a loyal house slave, but also Ashur’s right-hand woman, running his operation and totally in love with him. Ivana Baquero is Messia, another house slave, and she is tangled up in all kinds of emotional drama under Ashur’s roof.

The supporting cast of Spartacus: House of Ashur elevates the stakes. Jordi Webber stomps in as Tarchon, a cocky gladiator kid who lets his swagger run the show. Then there’s Claudia Black as Cossutia, who has a razor-sharp tongue and never stops plotting how to keep Ashur dancing to her beat. India Shaw-Smith jumps in as Viridia, Cossutia’s daughter, and sparks start flying between her and Ashur.

Leigh Gill's Satyrus leads the Brothers Ferox, a rival crew ready to throw down at any second. Arlo Gibson, as Opiter, has politics on the brain and a soft spot for Korris. In Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 4, Jackson Gallagher shows up as Julius Caesar. The second he walks in, the whole game flips.

Based on the official synopsis and the events of Episode 4, Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 5 turns up the heat this season. Achillia is thrown into the deep end with her first real fight in the arena. Ashur rolls her out for the Roman crowd like she is his secret weapon. She has been knocked around for weeks, built back up, and now she wants to prove she is not just some sideshow. The men have been bleeding on that sand for ages, and here she comes, ready or not.

In Episode 4, Achillia faces three opponents at once, and she is barely staying on her feet. All of this happens to prep for the Brothers Ferox. They fight like rabid dogs, laser-focused and mean. Celadus tries to give her a pep talk here and there, but she is struggling. People start whispering that maybe she is not cut out for this. Maybe the arena is going to swallow her up.

Ashur is not giving her much of a break. He keeps shoving her forward, acting like she is their ticket out of obscurity. And it’s not even about her. It’s about him, trying to score points with Marcus Crassus, who has enough power to snap his fingers and ruin lives.

Ashur is gunning for a spot at the fancy Ludi Apollinares games, and putting Achillia in the spotlight is his big, reckless move. He is not just showing off Rome’s first female gladiator; he is trying to make the whole city sit up and take notice. He wants everyone to know his ludus isn’t just another blood pit.

The only problem is that Capua is not buying it. People are pissed, and they are not shy about it. In Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 4, Ashur gets humiliated in front of everyone at a gathering as he tries to confront his rival, Proculus, but ends up pelted with food while the crowd chants insults.

The whole thing is ugly. And some of the hate is about Achillia being a woman in the arena, but a lot of it’s about Ashur himself. He used to be a slave, and now he is breaking every old Roman rule in the book. The city is not ready for this, and they are letting him know it, loud and clear.

Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 5 is expected to turn the screws. Episode 4 leaves off with Ashur actually swooping in with Korris and rescuing Cossutia and her kid, Viridia, from some marketplace assassins. This time, Ashur is not just the schemer; he is the guy with leverage. Next thing you know, he finally scores a ticket to the Ludi Apollinares, which he has been drooling over since episode one. And there’s this new thing brewing between him and Viridia. It totally messes with Cossutia’s whole plan to keep him out of the real action.

Meanwhile, Korris and Opiter are no longer a slow burn. After the bath scene kiss, they are not pretending anymore. This could be big for Ashur: Opiter has connections with Senator Gabinius, which might actually mean something in this snake pit of a city. But the closer they get, the bigger the target on their backs. Cossutia has already tried to off Korris once, so she is not suddenly going to play nice.

Now, Spartacus: House of Ashur Episode 5 is titled Goddess of Death, which doesn’t exactly hint at peaceful negotiations. Achillia is about to go full beast mode in the arena. Word on the street is she will need every trick she has got just to survive. But it’s not just about making it out alive. If she wins, Ashur’s ludus finally gets some real street cred. He might even lose the “ex-slave” label for good. But if she tanks, that’s it. His enemies get to gloat, and Crassus might just pull the rug out when Ashur needs him most.

Politically, Ashur is still walking on eggshells. He has done some gutsy things, but Rome’s upper crust isn’t happy yet. They still see him as, well, less than. And now Caesar’s in the picture. He showed up last episode, and no one knows what his angle is. He could be Ashur’s golden ticket or the reason he ends up face-down in the Tiber.

And inside the house, just as much chaos. Hilara and Messia are playing a will-they-won’t-they game, and Tarchon is marinating in his ego, plus he is pissed at his dad, Celadus, for siding with Achillia.

All this behind-the-scenes drama makes the whole show feel gritty. You get reminded that, as wild as the fights are, the real blood gets spilled behind closed doors.
