Spring Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 9 Recap: Four female finalists advance to the finale while Corey faces elimination
Ninth episode of Spring Baking Championship Season 11, titled, Floating Islands, featured the remaining five bakers competing to get their spots in the upcoming finale. The Pre-Heat challenge was to create Ile Flottante, meaning a floating island. For that, bakers were supposed to create a floating meringue that would literally float in the crème anglaise bowl.
They had a choice to either poach or bake the meringue. Additionally, the Pre-Heat challenge also required the bakers to create a sugar cage while using tropical fruit. Some participants faced issues when their sugar dome started to melt into their meringue.
While Lisa had overcooked eggs, Priya faced undercooked meringue. After struggling, Corey's floating island won him the Pre-Heat challenge. Judges mentioned the flavor and impressively baked meringue. However, he didn't get his spot in the finale right away, nor did he receive any other rewards.

For the Main Heat challenge, participants were instructed to create an ice cream bomb cake. It was supposed to have a "glow-in-the-dark décor." For the flavors, the inspiration was flambe cocktails. With the pressure of advancing into the finale, bakers were under a lot of stress while going through the Main Heat challenge.
Seeing how there were many things to be done, participants faced various issues. Some of the bakers faced ice melting into their décor, while a few were under extreme stress. Their desserts, once completed, lighten up the surroundings with the glow-in-the-dark décor.
The latest episode's Main Heat challenge winner was Mary Frances with her cake bomb. Despite Lisa's ice cream starting to melt, judges enjoyed the chocolate cake. For Priya, Nancy didn't seem as impressive, however, Duff Goldman enjoyed her cake. With that, both Lisa and Priya also secured their spots in the finale.
For the Spring Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 9, two bottom bakers were Raveena and Corey. After the challenge was over, Raveena's prepared ice cream started to melt, which was not a good sign. However, judges liked the texture of her cake.
For the Main Heat challenge, Corey faced an unexpected issue as his cake was turning into a biscuit. Despite the outer look, Corey's dessert was overbaked. It resulted in Corey's elimination. With that, the Spring Baking Championship Season 11 finale filled the spots with four female bakers.
For the upcoming finale, Priya, Mary Frances, Raveena, and Lisa became the finalists. They will be seen competing to win the title. One more Food Network show will feature four female finalists, after the recently concluded Tournament of Champions featured the same.
Fans will witness a female winner in the upcoming Spring Baking Championship Season 11 finale.
The ninth episode of Spring Baking Championship Season 11 can now be streamed on Food Network.
