Squid Game Season 3 is back and the new season’s trailer is anything but ordinary. As the show is full of high-octane twists and turns, so is the trailer for the latest season. As the final season of the show, the excitement among fans is high and everyone wants Gi-hun to finally take down the oppressive games that force players to kill one another for money. The new season drops on June 27, 2025 and here are 9 important details and Easter Eggs that can be seen in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer.
Religious symbolism, the mother and son playing apart, and other important details from Squid Game Season 3 trailer
1. Gi‑hun’s demeanor has changed

One of the most important clues from the Squid Game Season 3 trailer is that Seong Gi-hun’s whole demeanor has changed. In the end of season 2, we had seen Seong Gi-hun trying to take down the whole structure that conducts the games from the inside. However the rebellion failed. In the trailer, one sees Seong Gi-hun being dragged back into the games as a prisoner. When he asks the guards where they kept him and why they didn’t kill him, there is no answer. The Seong Gi-hun that we had seen in the previous seasons is not there and a somber yet enraged version of him is what we see in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer. The trailer opens with Seong Gi‑hun delivered in a black coffin into the dorm and being awakened by being handcuffed to a bunk, these are important symbols about the kind of character arc that Seong Gi-hun will take in the show. His powerlessness is accentuated in the trailer but he also has a steely resolve on his face.
2. Return of Player 246

One of the most important Easter Eggs in Squid Game Season 3 is when a bloodied man is being scanned behind the ear in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer. It suggests heavily that Park Gyeong‑seok or Player 246 has survived Season 2. The whole character arc of Park Gyeong-seok was very important in the 2nd season of the show and it seems like the trailer has given an important clue about the status of the player, who is known by his number, 246. Due to the open-ended nature of season 2, fans have long theorized that the guard Kang No‑eul saved him when player 246 was shot because the guard felt pity for Park Gyeong-seok, who was playing to get money for his daughter’s treatment. As the viewers didn’t get to see where he was wounded, the bloodied man in the trailer could very well be player 246. The Squid Game Season 3 trailer seems to confirm he’s alive. It could very much be possible that the guard shot the player in a spot like behind the ear, which was non-fatal and the player’s story will continue in the new season of the show.
3. Front Man keeps his mask on

Another important clue in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer that has puzzled many is about the front man. It is unclear why the front man has his mask on in the trailer. In the 2nd season, the front man had betrayed Gi-hun during his revolt and had killed other members of the squad. Further, he comes face-to-face with Gi-hun later and kills Sang-woo as well. Fans know that the front man has symbolically killed Oh Young-il and has gone back to being the front man. Therefore, why is he still wearing a mask? The soldiers likely know his identity as they knew about his involvement. However, one reason could be that his identity is still a secret from Gi-hun and he wants to stay that way. Further, there is a shot of the VIPs in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer and maybe the front man wants to keep his face hidden in front of them. However, whatever may be the cause, the front man with his mask gives off an ominous vibe and it would be interesting to see what new plot point viewers see in the new season. There is a desire for power performance and psychological distance and the front man likely wants to stay as an enigmatic figure of authority.
4. The two dolls from Season 2 are not in the trailer

An important fact in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer is that it does not address the season 2’s post-credits scene of the show. In the 2nd season of the show, Gi-hun witnesses the death of his friend in the finale and the viewers get to see an extra scene after the credits, where it is revealed that the competitors must play in an arena with the same doll from the Red Light, Green Light game. However, interestingly, in the 2nd season, the female doll has a new friend, who is a boy doll called Cheol-su. The two dolls face each other and the 2nd season ends on an ominous yet important note. However, in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer, these two dolls are nowhere to be seen. The viewers must have thought that these dolls would be seen in the new trailer, but the trailer does not follow up on this massive reveal of the last season. The trailer instead focuses on the players playing other types of games and it remains to be seen what the two dolls’ roles would be in Squid Game Season 3. The show has always thrown plenty of surprises at its viewers and this one could also be a sudden surprise for the viewers.
5. Female VIPs are present in Squid Game Season 3 trailer

One of the more interesting Easter Eggs about the Squid Game Season 3 trailer is that now there seem to be female VIPs as well, who want to see the players die in horrific ways. The VIPs are rich individuals who show up in gold masks in the first season to watch the horror of players being killed. While they are not an important part in the show’s second season, in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer, they show up once again. In one of the shots, there are several VIPs sitting around a table. Two out of them are visibly women. Another shot focuses on several VIPs standing and observing something and there is one woman who is wearing red amongst them. Therefore, the new season comes with a lot of twists and changes.
6. Gi-hun cannot participate in the vote

An important clue present in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer is the fact that Gi-hun will most probably not be able to vote in favor of ending the games. In the 2nd season, the players were divided into Xs and Os and the Xs had a slight majority. Whenever the players were permitted to vote between each game about whether they want to continue or they want to go home with the prize money accumulated so far, the Xs could vote for ending the game. However, in the 2nd season, most of the Xs were a part of the rebellion and many of them got killed. Therefore, in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer, the Os outnumber the Xs this season. Now, the players who are Os have the advantage and they can continue to carry on with the games. The Xs will be unable to stop them as well. In one shot, Gi-hun is handcuffed to one of the beds in the dorm and as the other players stand in line to vote, Gi-hun has to bear the torture of not being able to vote at all. The detail is important and signals how broken yet resolute Gi-hun is about ending the games once and for all.
7. There is religious symbolism in the trailer

Squid Game Season 3 continues the show’s obsession with symbolism. In the new trailer, Gi-hun is presented as a Christ-like figure who is returning in a coffin to save the remaining players. The symbolism evokes Jesus’s dying and resurrection. Interestingly, in season 1, Gi-hun says that he doesn’t believe in Jesus. However, in the new season, he could be the potential savior himself. Other religious symbols in the show revolves around Gi-hun and the front man. If Gi-hun is symbolically Christ then the front man who pretended to be his friend is the Judas, who metaphorically betrays him and stabs him in the back. Further, there is a lot of knife imagery as well in Squid Game Season 3, which ties in perfectly with this symbolism. The pervading sense of religious symbolism encapsulates Gi-hun’s moral strength and his journey of being a better human.
8. The game in the maze

Another interesting detail about the Squid Game Season 3 trailer is that there is a deadly game around mazes that is being played in the new season’s trailer. The players are either given a blue ball or a red ball and it seems that the ones who get blue, have to wear a blue vest and save themselves from the ones who got a red ball. Therefore, there is a new game where the players actively kill each other. The ones in blue are the prey and the ones in red are the predators. Even the shaman lady, or player 44 is back and in the trailer, she seems to be leading a cult inside the maze as she is one of the players with the blue vests and must save herself and others. Even if the shaman lady thought that she had powers in the 2nd season, it seems that her powers are not working anymore in Squid Game Season 3 as she is frantic and worried in the new season. Therefore, the new season has even more deadly games.
9. The mother and son are playing on opposite teams

The above point highlights how players will be divided into two teams based on which colored ball they get and the vest that they have to wear. However, in the Squid Game Season 3 trailer, there is a tragic twist as the son, Yong-sik, and his mother, Geum-ja, have different colored balls in their hands. The show has been ruthless and Squid Game Season 3 will be no less as the two have dejected faces. It is clear that only one of them will make it out alive. Some of the most important characters are in the red team, including Gi-hun, therefore, it can be said that members from the blue team will be killed tragically in Squid Game Season 3. The new season has plenty of twists and turns and it will be interesting to see what the game has in store for the viewers.
