Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror is a gruesome story based on the tragic but real-life events of Samantha Stites, a college freshman whose ordinary life became unimaginable in 2011 when she came in contact with Christopher Thomas. It started as seemingly harmless communication, but later turned into dogged psychological bullying and hounding.

During the 13-year-long period, Samantha was stalked at her workplace, gym, and grocery store, and she began to report her stalker to the police and friends repeatedly.

The climax of the docuseries is the fall of 2022, when the maniac Christopher Thomas no longer found obsession amusing. During a cold night, he entered Samantha’s home, kidnapped her, and confined her to a soundproof bunker built within a storage unit in Michigan, close to her house.

Isolated, she had to undergo her most serious trial. Through unique police interview footage, phone videos recovered by police, sinister surveillance evidence, and impactful eyewitness testimonies, Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror is an account of her struggle to survive, and eventually escape this underground prison.

The documentary investigates:

  • Psychology of obsession: The escalation of stalking, and the consequences of stalking on the mental and physical health of victims.
  • Law enforcement issues: The challenges officers faced in locating Christopher Thomas, building a case, and helping avert violence.
  • The power of survival: The remarkable resilience of Samantha Stites, the ploys she employed to fight back, and her times of joy and depression.
  • Justice and aftershocks: The aftermath, society’s response, and the ongoing fight to enact better laws on stalking in the U.S.
